Full job description

Environmental Systems Inc is a large Mechanical Contractor in Santa Clara doing business in the Bay Area since 1975. We subcontract with General Contractors, and work directly with clients in private and public sectors.

We are looking for a Project Engineer.

As a Project Engineer (PE), you will both curate and be assigned a wide range of projects (plan and spec, design build, negotiated) to plan and supervise from start to finish involving both new construction or maintenance of buildings, facilities and systems. As a PE, you are responsible for overseeing and not exceeding budgets, scheduling, coordinating contractors, vendors, and overall coordination of the construction process.

This employee will be well versed in all Mechanical methodologies and procedures to be able to help coordinate a team of professionals to successfully drive the job to completion and close out.

Overview:

Project Preparation Responsibilities

  • Learn all aspects of the project by reviewing project drawings and specifications.
  • Create Submittal Log from project specifications and drawings.
  • Work with and assist Bid Coordinator when necessary
  • Create e-files and binders to store project and job records.

Project Construction Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with ESI’s internal departments to set up job numbers and project information within Foundation and other project related technology that is required.
  • Collaborate with project managers to develop project plans, budgets, and schedules.
  • Assist with the technical aspects of the project, including reviewing and interpreting design drawings, specifications, and ensuring engineering requirements are met.
  • Facilitate effective communication between project stakeholders, including project managers, clients, subcontractors, and team members.
  • Mechanical, electrical and piping systems coordination.
  • Maintain clear and accurate project documentation.
  • General Contract and Subcontract administration, including creating, issuing and follow up of POs and Subcontracts
  • Ensure receipt of executed Subcontract Agreements and other required documentation as needed.
  • Work with Project Team to coordinate and execute Subcontractor Kick-Off Meetings.
  • Assist in management of the allocation of resources such as labor, equipment, and materials to meet project needs.
  • Coordinate and manage subcontractors, including procurement and scheduling. Manage the procurement of construction materials, equipment, and services needed for the project.
  • Supervision/coordination of subcontractors’ field installations
  • Assist the Project Manager to process, and distribute Potential Change Items, Subcontract Change Orders and Owner Orders as requested.
  • Review and process Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Set up and lead project meetings, as required. Coordinate with Project Team to create and compile various reports and information as needed for project meetings.
  • Take meeting minutes, process, and distribute as required.
  • Review submitted invoices.
  • Maintain as-built record drawings and updates issued by the Architect.
  • Resolve issues and address schedule concerns.
  • Identify and address potential project risks, working to mitigate delays or cost overruns.
  • Monitor project expenses, track costs, and identify opportunities to stay within the project budget.
  • Execute related work as assigned by the Project Management Team.

Close-Out Process Responsibilities

  • Create close out register from project specifications & drawings
  • Coordinate with the Team to collect all required documents and electronic records of close-out documents.
  • File appropriate documentation to complete project close-out with all governing entities.
  • Complete internal project closeout verification.
  • Manage project close-out, including securing warranties, guarantees, and acceptance of work, subcontract and vendor close, final payment and records retention.

Experience: 2-5+ years progressive PE experience.

Education: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in engineering or construction management or equivalent experience.

Benefits

Compensation offered may vary based on experience, qualifications, specialty, training, and market and business considerations, among other factors. The salary may be more than this range for candidates with exceptional experience and a demonstrated history of successful performance.

The salary listed also does not include the 15% an hour of pension provided in addition to the salary and other health benefits which are covered at 100%, which significantly impact and increase the total compensation package.
