Scope

We are seeking a compassionate and mission-driven Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dedicated team. In this role you will inform and empower women and families navigating unexpected and stressful pregnancies by providing excellent nursing care and evidence-based pregnancy related education.

The RN will obtain health histories, perform limited ultrasounds, provide pregnancy related patient education, and coordinate care, all while ensuring adherence to My Choice Pregnancy Services medical policies and applicable New Beginnings Center of Hope Policies and procedures.

Schedule

At-will contract 1099 position with 35 hours/week (and 5 hours unpaid lunch)

  • Sunday & Monday | Off
  • Tuesday: 11am - 11pm | Remote
  • Wednesday: 11am - 7pm | On-Site
  • Thursday: 11am - 7pm | On-Site
  • Friday: 10am - 5pm | Remote
  • Saturday: 9:30am - 2:30pm | On-Site

Qualifications:

  • Current New York State RN Registration and functions within their scope of practice in accordance with the state licensing board.
  • Current American Heart Association CPR Certification
  • Current Infection Control Certification
  • Agree with and be willing to uphold Center’s Vision and Mission (provided within the interview process).
  • At least one year’s experience as a practicing nurse, ideally in a women’s health-related setting.
  • Strong interpersonal, reflective listening, communication, health education and administrative skills
  • Good computer literacy and ability to use all electronic communication and documentation systems including Call Tracking, email, and virtual platforms utilizing text and video Chat in a cyber secure manner in accordance with Cyber security best practices..

Essential Job functions:

Perform the following duties in accordance with existing medical policies and policies and procedures and Center Operations:

  • Cover Crisis Line and Nurse Chat as assigned and as needed.
  • Provide Abortion Information, Options information, Health Care Management Virtual Nurse Visits as needed in accordance with level of expertise and training.
  • Obtains health History, clinical assessments, including obtaining accurate health history, obtaining/clarifying intake information, obtaining vital signs, reviewing consent forms for completeness prior to providing services, performance of limited ultrasound for pregnancy; providing reviewing permission-based pregnancy options, formulating NANDA based ADVEIT Care Plan, and providing timely as needed follow-up care management.
  • Immediately notifies, Nurse Manager, Onsite Medical Office Medical Director, of any abnormal patient condition and or ultrasound findings.
  • If there is a medical emergency on-site, follow the procedures for medical emergencies.
  • Accurately and promptly documents virtual interactions (crisis line calls, text, and video chats) in both paper and electronic records, ensuring the confidentiality and security of patients' personal and private health information in compliance with center policies and procedures.
  • Provides support to the other medical staff as needed, including chaperoning exams.
  • Provide patient health education, referrals for medical care/follow-up, and other pertinent medical care coordination.
  • Conduct Quality Assurance patient records review for completeness (all necessary forms present) Medical/nursing care was provided in accordance with nursing scope of practice and standard of care.
  • Assess medical equipment for proper functioning and scheduled maintenance.
  • Comply with state and professional licensing and continuing education requirements.
  • Comply with ultrasound pregnancy confirmation initial, annual didactic, hands on training and continuing education requirements as applicable.
  • Implement medical director’s written standing orders and other center policies and procedures, including but not limited to compliance with OSHA, CLIA, privacy practices, and infection control.
  • Conduct regular medical supply inventory and ensure that the Onsite Medical office and facility restroom are properly always stocked with appropriate unexpired medical supplies. Informs Center Administrator on Duty (i.e. CEO/Guest Services Care Coordinator/ Client Care Director/Designee)
  • Maintain a regular cleaning and disinfection schedule for exam room, medical equipment and pregnancy testing area according to existing policies and procedures.
  • Maintain an active nursing license within the state and comply with state and professional continuing education requirements.
  • Maintain CPR certification.
  • Attend conferences, trainings, to obtain and maintain additional certifications as requested (including but not limited to Telehealth, performing limited obstetrical ultrasound, Abortion Pill Reversal Protocols, Human Trafficking Protocol, childbirth instructor, HIV counseling, STD/STI training).
