The NETA Business Center provides accounting services for public broadcasting organizations and other non-profit institutions across the country. We are true partners for our clients! The Controller supports the work of the Business Center Senior Controllers by performing assigned tasks and overseeing the work of other team members in financial oversight, accounting, cash management, and budgeting. To ensure alignment with our core working hours in the West Coast, we prefer candidates in the Mountain and Pacific Time Zone regions.

REGULAR DUTIES:

  • Accounts Receivable - Prepares client invoice requests, assures proper G/L coding before Accountants enter them into financial accounting software. Then approves printed invoices before Staff Accountant posts invoices to financial accounting software. Prepare monthly AR reports for client review and discuss with clients as needed.
  • Accounts Payable - Ensure client G/L coding is appropriate, works with clients to code properly, obtain necessary documentation. Approves and sends to Staff Accountant for entering into Financial accounting software. Then approves Voucher Edit report before Staff Accountant posts AP to financial accounting software.
  • Check Runs - Responsible for coordinating weekly check runs, ensuring all invoices have been processed. Runs an AP aging report and makes check selection; review AP selection with client and gets client approval; gives to Staff Accountants to process checks.
  • Cash Management - Checks client bank accounts as needed and performs cash management entries into financial accounting software for electronic bank transactions.
  • Journal Entries in financial accounting software – Records journal entries primarily at month end, as needed.
  • Monthly Financials - Reviews client’s Trial Balance and makes any necessary adjustments via journal entries in financial accounting software. Runs financial reports (balance sheet and income statement). Reviews financials and prepares narrative for Sr. Controller review and editing.
  • Stays current on regulations, trends, best practices and incorporates them into client solutions.

OCCASIONAL DUTIES:

  • Coordinates with Sr. Controller to assist clients with annual budget planning by providing prior year numbers, and entering salary and benefit information.
  • Coordinates with Sr. Controller to produce and files the Annual Financial Reports, Station Activity Benchmarking Studies, and Station Activity Surveys for the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, as required by station clients.
  • Coordinates with Sr. Controller to File various state and federal reports on a timely basis (e.g., Form 990, quarterly payroll 941, quarterly sales taxes.)
  • Coordinates with Sr. Controller to provide all necessary data for annual audit.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: (An equivalent amount of training, education and experience will also be considered.)

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in finance or accounting.
  • Minimum five years’ work experience in accounting.
  • Operational knowledge, fluency with accounting software and electronic spreadsheets.
  • Familiarity with NETA’s financial accounting software platform, SAGE Intacct, and Bill.com are desirable.
  • Experience working with not-for-profit organizations preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with proven accuracy and attention to detail.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
