Job Title: Cook/Baker

Starting Salary: $16.00/hour

Hourly Needs: Monday - Friday, Weekends possible

Job Description: Wholesome Harvest Food Co-op is seeking a creative individual passionate about sustainability and culinary innovation to grow our community-oriented kitchen program.

About WHFC: Wholesome Harvest Food Co-op is Allegany County’s only community-owned grocery store located on Main Street in Frostburg, MD. Established in 2018, Wholesome Harvest is owned and operated by our member-owners through a volunteer Board of Directors. We are committed to our mission of expanding market opportunities for local farmers, increasing access to affordable, locally grown food, and generating jobs and revenue streams for our local economy. We are proud to work with local family-owned farms and producers, partner with local businesses, and offer high-quality, sustainable foods and specialty items. Through our newly developed kitchen program, we are able to reduce waste, prioritize the needs of community members with special dietary restrictions, and provide affordable options for healthy, delicious, and exciting food.

A Day in the Life as a Kitchen Team Member: Our unique community kitchen platform means there is always a new and exciting project operating from the Co-op Kitchen! As a Kitchen Team Member, you’ll have the opportunity to work in multiple areas from food preparation and line cooking, to baking, catering, and vending. Our innovative and cooperative approach offers the perfect opportunity to expand and hone your skills and exercise your culinary creativity.

Qualifications to be a Cook/Baker: Requirements and desired skills mean you have the potential to be a great addition to our Kitchen team:

Required

Min. 1 year commercial kitchen experience

Min. 1 year professional pastry/baking experience

Preferred

Food safety training

Recipe planning

Inventory tracking

Menu planning

6 months or more serving experience
