Organization Overview:
The Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA) is the leading national organization dedicated to improving the lives of those living with Lewy body dementia (LBD), the second most common form of neurodegenerative dementia affecting approximately 1.4 million people in the United States alone.
Established in 2003, LBDA’s mission is to optimize the quality of life for those affected by LBD by accelerating awareness, advancing research for early diagnosis and improved care, and providing comprehensive education and compassionate support.
The Opportunity:
The Coordinator of Support Services will play a pivotal role in supporting LBDA’s mission by providing direct support to those symptomatic or diagnosed with LBD and their care partners.
The Coordinator of Support Services must be a highly motivated, detail-oriented professional who is ready to help LBDA expand our capacity to provide quality support to the LBD community.
Responsibilities:
- Respond to constituent referrals received via phone and email; provide resources, referrals, support, connections to volunteers, and information to people with LBD and their care partners.
- Maintain documentation of calls for tracking purposes.
- Collect, vet, maintain, and utilize local, regional, and national resources and information regarding care, support, resources, and LBD/symptoms.
- Moderate LBDA Facebook support pages
- Manage and facilitate online LBDA support groups for those living with LBD and their care partners; assess opportunities and create new groups as needed.
- Participate in, present, and/or represent LBDA at community awareness/educational events/presentations via online platforms or in-person events, as requested.
- Disseminate communications on Support platforms as needed.
- Attend educational opportunities that benefit overall support of constituents. Research opportunities to further LBDA’s cache of information and resources.
- Edit/contribute to LBDA materials, presentation, etc. as requested.
- Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or related field (such as Gerontology). Master’s degree with associated licensure is preferred.
- 3+ years of experience working directly with patients/care partners required.
- Experience in dementia and/or in aging highly preferred.
- Experience facilitating and managing support groups highly preferred.
- Experience in a nonprofit setting is preferred.
- Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and work independently.
- Ability to manage multiple ongoing projects with competing deadlines.
- Ability to be flexible and be open to new ideas and have an eye towards improving, growing, and strengthening LBDA’s Support Services program offerings.
- Ability to work remotely – with secure, reliable internet access.
- Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal; customer service mindset.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office.
- Travel less than 5%
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $26.45 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
