Full job description
In a multi-company environment, the Controller will be responsible for preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end general ledger closings, oversight of bank reconciliations, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. You will be responsible for internal reporting during the monthly close. In addition, you will participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors and tax accountants as required. This role also involves the production of Financial Statements, P&L and Cash Flow projections, and Budgets along with supporting process improvement initiatives.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Coordinate and supervise activities of Accounting and Purchasing for all associated companies.
· Responsible for managing the general ledger close process.
· Responsible for providing accurate and timely financial reporting and analysis.
· Provide meaningful analysis on trends and causes of variances from plans, budgets, and forecasts
· Direct preparation of annual operating and capital budgets, and periodic forecasts.
· Responsible for ensuring all balance sheet accounts are reconciled accurately on a timely basis.
· Prepare reports required by regulatory agencies.
· Coordinate annual company audits and financial reviews.
· Support banking relationships by maintaining reports that fulfill contract requirements. Supervise day-to-day banking activities.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· The Controller supervises employees in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Accounting, and Purchasing, including planning, prioritizing, assigning and directing work of others.
· Responsible for interviewing, hiring and training and mentoring employees.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Read, adhere to, and help to ensure compliance with work instructions, procedures, policies, and complete related required forms or reports.
· Maintain awareness of changing trends and regulations which might affect the departments and act as required to ensure compliance.
· Serve on cross-functional teams to ensure the continuous improvement of processes, methods, productivity and quality, while reducing costs.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
· High level proficiency in Microsoft Excel, and proficient in other MS Office applications. Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics is a plus.
· Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills. Able to evaluate large information sets and identify and communicate trends and key facts.
· Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
· Advanced presentation skills - able to convey information in one-on-one and group situations to employees, managers or customers.
· Advanced negotiation and persuasion skills.
· Advanced written and verbal communication skills. Able to read, write and speak English fluently and clearly.
· Advanced interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with employees, suppliers, and customers.
· Able to multi-task and effectively manage multiple priorities.
· Advanced organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Ability to work in fast-paced, change-oriented environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
· Willingness to work overtime and travel occasionally as needed.
· Must possess or obtain a valid U.S. Passport and driver’s license.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field and 5-7 years related work experience or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
· Experience working in a multi-company environment a plus.
· CPA and public accounting experience are desirable.
· Familiarity with accounting processes.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $85,000.00 - $92,000.00 per year
