Full job description
WOAR-Philadelphia Center Against Sexual Violence is seeking a skilled trauma counselor to provide trauma therapy to survivors of sexual violence.
WOAR’s Service Mission: to provide effective counseling to survivors of sexual violence as part of a comprehensive service array that addresses survivors’ support and healing needs, as well as sexual violence prevention education, outreach, and advocacy.
Responsibilities
1) Direct Services – 80%
- Provides high quality and effective counseling services to clients (crisis, individual, group and family).
- Develops and implements treatment for an average ongoing caseload of 20 individual clients.
- It is required for this position to work 3 evenings a week.
- Utilizes empirically supported measurement tools to evaluate client progress.
- Follows-up and provides case management services with clients as necessary.
- Co-facilitates support groups.
- Conducts client intake assessments to determine appropriate treatment as needed.
- Answers hotline as necessary.
- Provides on-call back-up for weekend hotline coverage as needed.
- Refers clients to other agencies as appropriate.
- Collaborates with other agencies providing services to clients.
- Advocates for proper treatment of victims of sexual assault.
2) Administrative Responsibilities -10%
- Provides training on sexual assault and treatment issues as assigned to volunteers, staff, community and professional groups.
- Completes required client paperwork and data entry in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintains accurate and current client files.
- Assists the Education services staff with the development of educational and outreach materials as requested.
- Assumes responsibility for on-going special projects as assigned.
3) Other Responsibilities -5%
- Participates in bi-weekly individual supervision with the Clinical Director and Clinical Manager.
- Participates in monthly department meetings.
- Participates in monthly agency meetings.
- Supports and participates in agency activities such as staff retreats, special events, volunteer recognition events and fundraising as appropriate or assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
4) Staff Development -5%
- Participates in appropriate staff development activities.
- Stays abreast of current information concerning sexual assault issues.
- Stays abreast of current information concerning counseling techniques and interventions.
Qualifications Skills and Requirements
- Must complete state mandated forty (40) hour victim service training
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, Counseling or any healthcare related field is required.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
- Excellent writing and speaking skills
- Computer competency in Microsoft Office
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Capacity to work independently and as a member of the team
- Must work 3 evenings a week (10a-6p and 11a-7p)
- Some in-state travel required
- PA 33/34 certifiable and FBI certifiable
- Must adhere to professional ethics and agency confidentiality policy
- Philosophical orientation compatible with WOAR's philosophy and mission
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
