Job Summary:
Under general supervision of the Clerk of the District Court and/or the Deputy Clerk, this position is responsible for clerical work, preparing and processing court documents, and maintaining court records. Work involves entering court case information, indexing and filing all legal pleadings received by the Court; issue summons/subpoenas for signature; provide counter and telephone assistance to clients and attorneys; and compile and distribute required correspondence or requested documents to appropriate parties. Work also involves conducting informational searches within computer and written files and assessing, collecting and receipting client fees or bond monies.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provide counter and telephone reception including; provide response to client questions regarding court decrees, court costs and status; provide copies of court documents; and assess or communicate fees required.
- Create new client files; enter court decision information into database; certify order, photocopy and distribute to appropriate parties; conduct information searches within client files and databases; and ensure all orders are entered and filed.
- Process passports.
- Complete notification correspondence and communications for all judgments; compile and distribute requested/required documents to clients, judges, attorneys, law enforcement officials and community agencies; certify incoming documents, fill out State reports regarding vital statistics; and complete work status reports as requested.
- File and index all notices from the Department of Health and Human Services, County child support notices, subpoenas and summons and all docket sheets and process checks on judgments and fees.
- Perform various support staff services including: sort and distribute mail; proofread documents; photocopy, sort and file documents into filing systems; pull files from filing system and place in order of docket appearance; type and mail routine correspondence; and prepare bank deposits.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.50 per hour
