Full job description
Job Title: Crew Leader - Fire Fuels Mitigation
Full-time (40hrs./week)
We are seeking motivated and skilled individuals to fill the positions of Crew Leaders for our Fire Fuels Mitigation team. As a Crew Leader, you will be responsible for leading and instructing a team of 3-4 young adults in implementing fire fuels mitigation strategies in diverse natural and urban settings. This challenging and rewarding position requires hands-on work in fire fuels reduction, tool and equipment operation, hazard assessments, and mitigation planning.
Responsibilities:
Team Leadership and Instruction:
● Lead and guide a team of 3-4 employees in executing fire fuels mitigation strategies.
● Teach and foster teamwork to ensure efficient and safe completion of tasks.
Operational Excellence:
● Operate and maintain various tools and equipment used in fire fuels reduction, including
chainsaws, brush chippers, and hand tools.
● Execute vegetation clearing, falling trees, and other mitigation techniques to create
defensible space and firebreaks.
Hazard Assessment and Mitigation Planning:
● Assist in conducting hazard assessments and contribute to the development of effective
mitigation plans.
Community Engagement:
● Participate in fire prevention and education programs for local communities.
● Foster positive relationships with community members and stakeholders.
Collaboration and Professional Development:
● Collaborate with experienced professionals and fellow program participants to share
knowledge and develop practical skills.
● Actively engage in industry-specific training and stay informed about the latest trends and
best practices.
Requirements:
● Valid driver's license with at least_ 3 years _of driving experience.
● Clean background check.
● Ability to pass a drug test.
● Previous management experience preferred but not mandatory.
Qualifications:
● Strong leadership and communication skills.
● Ability to work in diverse and challenging environments.
● Physical fitness and endurance for outdoor work in varying conditions.
● Commitment to safety and adherence to established protocols.
● Work alongside youth in implementing educational experiences
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $16.50 per hour
