BARREN RIVER AREA SAFE SPACE, INC.
BRASS is the regional domestic violence shelter and program serving Warren County and 9-surrounding counties. This position is responsible for safety, operations and client services during third shift, typically 9 pm to 7 am. Applicants who are unable to work a third-shift schedule will not be considered.

The Crisis Intervention Advocate is a full-time evening, and weekend position. The Crisis Intervention Advocate is responsible for answering the 24-hour crisis line, providing crisis intervention, and appropriate referrals. The person in this position is under the supervision of the Director of Residential Services.
JOB DESCRIPTION
POSITION TITLE: CRISIS INTERVENTION ADVOCATE

The Crisis Intervention Advocate is a full-time overnight position. The scheduled shift works between 9pm and 7am, four days a week. The Crisis Intervention Advocate is responsible for answering the 24-hour crisis line, providing crisis intervention, appropriate referrals, and maintaining overnight shelter operations.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Answer the 24-hour crisis line.
2. Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, and referral services.
3. Initiate intake process on clients entering the shelter or outreach services.
4. Assist in the orientation of new residents to the shelter.
5. Complete intakes and assessments.
6. Complete exit process, if resident exits on assigned shift.
7. Complete daily service notes for residents.
8. Compile and report statistical information on residents as required by funding sources.
9. Supervise routine evening, night and weekend activities in the Shelter.
10. Check security system at beginning of each shift to assure all doors and windows are locked and that security system is intact.
11. Monitor the interior of the shelter at regular intervals during each shift to assure the safety and well-being of residents.
12. Facilitate emergency response and safety procedures with shelter residents.
13. Observe any conditions that need maintenance or repair, and leave a written message for the Deputy Director.
14. Work on holidays according to designated shift.
15. Attend all required staff meetings and trainings.
16. Perform all other duties as assigned by Executive Director.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 18 years of age.
- Two years college with coursework in social service related area, or five years experience in victim services.
- Knowledge of dynamics of domestic violence, safety planning, justice system, and client-centered services.
- Adhere to the Revised Member Program Service Standards of the Kentucky Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
- Commitment to complete required (for fulltime) training for Certification as Domestic Violence Advocate.
- Completion of First Aid, CPR, Blood-borne Pathogen, and Serv-Safe Food Preparation Training.
- Valid Kentucky driver’s license and proof of vehicle insurance.
- Submit to a criminal background check.
Comprehensive Benefits Package
· Medical, Dental, Vision and Life insurance premiums paid 100% for the employee. Employees become eligible to enroll in benefits on the 1st day of the month following 60 days of employment. Spouse and child(ren) may be added to the benefits plans for a fee.
· $25,000 Basic & AD&D Life Insurance for the employee, paid 100% by the Agency.
· Enrollment in the Kentucky Early Retirement System pension after 9 months employment. Employee will contribute 6% of pre-tax earnings, with employer match.
· Employee begins accruing vacation & sick time off on day one of employment. Employees accrue 8 hours of vacation & 8 hours of sick time per month, equaling 12 vacation days & 12 sick days per year.
· 11 Paid Holidays per year. Staff who work on Holidays will be paid 1.5x their normal rate in lieu of a paid holiday. Holidays are randomly drawn for staff to work. The employees' birthday is one of the 11 Paid Holidays each year.
· Paid Parental Leave of up to 6-weeks paid, up to 12-weeks total after 1-year of employment.
· Paid Medical Leave of up to 6-weeks.
Schedule and Pay
This position starts at $17.50 per hour plus our comprehensive benefits package.
The schedule for this position is Sunday through Wednesday, 9 pm to 7 am.
