Job Description - Cybersecurity Software Engineer (Remote)

At Cyber Skyline, we are on a mission to prepare the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. Cyber Skyline delivers cloud-based cybersecurity skills assessments that help students & professionals track their skills growth and businesses find, measure, and cultivate talent.

Cyber Skyline is looking for a cybersecurity software engineer that will work closely with our software engineers to design and deploy technical cybersecurity challenges for competitions and assessments.

This position is a full time position available for immediate hire.

Must hold or be eligible to hold Public Trust clearance. We are unable to sponsor H-1B visas.

Salary: $100,000/yr - $125,000, negotiable based on capabilities

You will:

• Design and implement practical cybersecurity challenges that meet both internal and customer needs
• Develop tooling to improve the efficiency and quality of the challenge development process
• Stay up-to-date with cybersecurity trends, threats, and technologies to inform challenge design
• Assist the team in providing technical support to customers
• Participate in the team quality control process to test and validate the accuracy
• Develop technical solution guides and tutorials
• Update company design and process guidelines based on customer feedback

Required skills:

• Low-level understanding of computer networking
• Linux command line
• Computer programming (Python / Javascript preferred)

Who you are:

• Able to develop quick solutions for infrastructure / IT challenges with scripting languages
• Familiar with computer network and security appliances (routers, SIEM, IDS, etc)
• Have a strong understanding and practical experience with computer networking
• Have strong communication skills and can explain technical concepts to people without a technical background
• An independent thinker than can synthesize information to develop an intuitive approach to solve complex problems
• Want to get things done right rather than duct taping solutions together

Our hiring process:

• Introductory Call - Initial conversation with the hiring manager to talk about the company, role, and expectations. No skills questions.
• Capabilities Interview- Work together with the hiring manager and walk through your approach in solving a practical problem. Notes from this interview are shared with the team for evaluation.
• Team Interview - Meet the people you would be working with in this role, work through a technical challenge with them, and ask them questions about working at Cyber Skyline.
