The Technician Tier I performs all activities associated with the provisioning/building, test and turn up and support of customer data product orders. Duties include all Logix products such as, Internet, MPLS Layer2/Layer3, SD-WAN.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Provisions and builds customers data product orders.
  • Works with Field Techs to test and turn up customers data products.
  • Troubleshoots VPN tunnels and VOIP (Voice over IP).
  • Completes Install, Change and Disconnect order activity tasks.
  • Assists with troubleshooting customers data issues.
  • Completes any special projects as assigned.
  • Interacts with other departments as needed.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

  • Working understanding of Carrier Ethernet and SD-WAN.
  • Working knowledge of Ciena, Adtran, Brocade, ALU/Nokia, and Cisco routers.
  • Familiarity with routing protocols such as OSPF, ISIS, and BGP.
  • Understanding of NAT (Network Address Translation) and DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol).
  • Knowledge of Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Networks (WAN).
  • Proficiency in IPv4 and IPv6 subnetting.
  • Familiarity with MPLS L2/L3.

  • Demonstrating teamwork by cooperating and assisting co-workers.
  • Maintaining confidentiality of customer and company information.
  • Providing a quality customer experience during interactions with every order worked.

  • Demonstrating creative and organizational skills to work through projects and produce accurate results.

Education and Experience:

  • College degree or 2 years experience in Networking or Telecommunications.
  • CCENT, CCNA, CompTIA, Network+ Certifications preferred but not required.
