Delivery Driver - Sheet Metal Fab Shop - Must meet ALL qualifications to be considered

Job Title: Delivery Driver Sheet Metal/Fab Shop

Reports to: Pre-Fab Shop Manager

Position Purpose

This position is responsible for warehouse delivery functions. Securing loads, driving trucks and/or trailers to make deliveries to job sites.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

1) Drive a company vehicle following all requirements as directed to deliver parts/materials to job sites.

2) Properly secure load(s) for delivery.

3) Receive and fill orders from the field and shop. Must be able to lift 30 pounds on a regular basis.

a) Store all materials and equipment that are received in their proper place as directed by the Pre-Fab Shop Manager.

4) Assist Pre-Fab Shop Manager with charging inventory to correct jobs and processing credits for damaged or unused inventory.

a) Process any damaged freight claims as instructed by the Pre-Fab Shop Manager.

b) Return unused materials to warehouse inventory or to the supplier for credit as directed by the Pre-Fab Shop Manager.

5) Keep shop & warehouse clean and organized.

a) Clean warehouse and outside yard at the end of each shift or as needed.

b) Take out any trash.

6) Follow other job-related instructions and perform any other job-related responsibilities requested by the supervisor.

7) Operate motorized equipment such as balers, forklifts or chain lifts.

8) Receiving

a) Load, unload, and move materials and equipment throughout the facility.

b) Verify accuracy and condition of load.

c) Document any issues, backorders or damages.

d) Tag and notify required personnel of delivered material.

Significant Challenges

Significant challenges critical to success in this job:

1. Courteous and accurate service with customers/staff.
2. Maintaining a high level of communication constantly between customers and McElroy’s staff.
3. Ability to handle variations in workload.
4. Ability to calmly handle a multitude of calls at one time. Maintain a calm and friendly tone of voice with each customer, in addition to being comfortable awaiting the next call.

5. Ability to work in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

1. Training, education, or certification:

• High School Diploma or GED required

2. Knowledge:

• General knowledge of Sheet Metal, HVAC and plumbing parts.

3. Experience:

• Ability to drive larger vehicles.
• Ability to pull a trailer.

4. Skills and abilities:

• Customer service skills.
• Must have good organizational skills and ability to pay attention to details.
• Ability to operate a forklift, hand truck, pallet jack and other warehouse equipment.
• Work well in a team environment.
• Able to communicate effectively and be professional at all times, even under highly stressful peak work periods.
• Must be self-motivated and willing to learn.
• Clean driving record.
• Must be able to pass a drug test.
