Summary of Position
The Deputy Director will lead and oversee operations and programs, and guide those teams through CIELO’s next phase of transformational and healthy growth. They will be a seasoned executive leader with a track record of leading organizational growth and change management, and complement the Executive Director in leading CIELO through its next stage of +2x growth over the next three years. They will join the Executive Director on the newly-formed Executive Leadership Team as a thought partner in other organizational functions: mission & impact, resource mobilization, organizational development, finance & accounting, marketing & communications, governance & compliance, and HR.

Responsibilities
Leadership & Management
- Guide the facilitation and implementation of a strategic plan to achieve the organization's three-year strategic vision, in collaboration with staff, leadership teams and the board of directors.
- Lead programming and operations integration and support staff through change management. Direct reports will include four Directors who direct programs, outreach/engagement, and operations.
- Inspire and develop team members by facilitating a healthy collaborative culture, setting clear goals and expectations, building trusted and accountable relationships, and cultivating overall growth.
- Serve on the newly-formed executive leadership team with the Executive Director, as a thought partner in other organizational functions: resource mobilization, finance & accounting, marketing & communications, governance & compliance, and HR.
Operations
- Serve as an integrator across the organization by fostering robust: collaboration; time management; project management; and software solutions.
- Assess individual and organizational goals, refine tracking systems to monitor progress, and support staff in achieving goals.
- Incorporate best practices & software solutions to improve internal systems, focusing on strategic directions and budget realities.
- Manage & optimize data tracking to help improve effectiveness and efficiencies across the organization.
Programs
- Design a high-touch scalable programmatic model that leverages technology and adapts to diverse population needs.
- Lead program staff in the development and integration of robust educational, client navigation, and coaching program elements; and align resources for successful implementation.
- Drive programmatic outcomes that create healthy team collaboration; meaningful & measurable impact on clients and their communities; exemplary client service; and sustainable growth.
- Leverage data to track the progress and success of programs and projects; and to enhance impact.
Qualifications
Character, Knowledge & Skills

- Exemplary written, oral communication, and relational skills, foster the ability to influence others.
- Skillful in leveraging technology & digital tools to support growth: CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system, project management, LMS (Learning Management System), and cloud-based offices, such as Google Workspace.
- Ability to track, analyze, and interpret data for decision-making.
- Commitment to CIELO’s mission, DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion), and working with people from all racial, ethnic, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
Education & Experience
- 5+ years in an executive or director-level leadership role focused on management, programs, and/or operations.
- Experienced leader with a track record of leading people, programs, and operations through +2x growth, from 10 ppl to +20 ppl.
- Played a key role in retaining the culture, values, and core mission of a team or organization through significant growth.
- Small business ownership, business coaching, or entrepreneurship experience, preferred.
- Nonprofit experience is important and preferred, but open to candidates with private-/public-sector backgrounds.
- A college degree in business, community / economic development, human / leadership development, or a related field preferred.
- Bi-lingual (Spanish and English) fluency is preferred.
Salary & Benefits
- Salary will range from $100,000-$125,000 depending on experience.
- Benefits include: generous paid time off, health/dental/vision insurance, 401k, professional development budget, and flexible remote work.
- Flexible hybrid work arrangement and occasional work on nights and weekends.
