Development Director

Rebuilding Together Minnesota (RTMN) is an affiliate of a national non-profit, housing organization. Our mission is “repairing homes, revitalizing communities, rebuilding lives,” with a vision of “safe homes and communities for everyone.”


  • Plan, organize and implement activities associated with a comprehensive fund development plan.
  • Direct and oversee fundraising, in consultation with the Executive Director, to meet budgeted financial goals, and to recruit and develop necessary volunteers, and associations to implement fundraising activities.

Duties and Responsibilities


  • Work with Executive Director, RTMN staff and Board of Directors to research, identify, cultivate and solicit prospective and established major donors.
  • Develop stewardship program to retain existing donors.
  • Coordinate fundraising activities with those activities of the grant writer and the grant administrator, including maintaining foundation information within agency database and building relationships with foundations.
  • Represent RTMN within the community, attending meetings and events conducive to enhancing development efforts.
  • Research, identify and build relationships with local and regional foundations for potential financial support.
  • Coordinate and build relationships with appropriate local non-profit and funding organizations such as Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, Minnesota Council on Foundation, and the Corporate Volunteerism Council.
  • Work with Executive Director to coordinate and execute annual marketing and public relations plans, and budgets with contracted Public Relations agency.
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Direct Mail & Individual Giving Campaigns

  • Collaborate with Executive Director to identify focus of campaigns.
  • Develop materials and coordinate all aspects for annual and special appeal campaigns (creation, production and mailing).
  • Work with RTMN staff to acknowledge donations in a timely manner.
  • Build relationships with individual donors and volunteers with goal of converting volunteers to donors.
  • Manage donor information in agency database, including maintaining current address data and expanding database with new potential donors.

Fundraising events

  • Act as primary staff facilitator of signature fundraising events.
  • Serve as a resource for board members and volunteers hosting fundraising events to benefit Rebuilding Together.


  • Collaborate with Executive Director to develop and implements strategic sponsorship and partnership plans to promote the RTMN brand, its products and programs within Minnesota.
  • Serve as a salesperson for sponsorships and partnerships, working with Executive Director to finalize master sales strategies for all relationships, including packages of key rights and benefits, creative promotions and master sales materials.
  • Manage existing and potential sponsor information in agency database, including: company/brand name and contact information, business category, type of relationship (sponsorship, promotional partner), donation type (cash and in-kind), property pitching or tied into/proprietary component, company results, company quotes and testimonials.
  • Work with RTMN staff to coordinate volunteer engagement events that help build corporate sponsorship relationships.
  • Attend scheduled strategy meetings with assigned corporate sponsors and partners. Monitor corporate relationships by tracking progress toward company objectives and sponsor satisfaction levels.
  • Research targeted categories and primary prospects. Learn business hot buttons and trends, leveraging techniques and distribution channels. Identify individual company objectives and determine long- and short-term strategies for achieving objectives.

  • 3-5 years of development and fundraising experience, preferred
  • PR/Marketing experience a plus
  • Event planning experience desirable
  • Strong formal and creative writing skills
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and Salesforce
  • Ability to work with a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends
  • Ability to work independently

  • Education: B.A. required or equivalent work experience

Pay: $75,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
