Job Summary
Emmaus Inc. is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Development Manager to lead our fundraising and development initiatives. The Development Manager is responsible for spearheading donor relations, multiple fundraising events and overseeing the development department within a fast-paced non-profit environment dedicated to supporting families and individuals experiencing homelessness in rebuilding their lives. We seek a highly motivated self-starter with a take-charge attitude and a positive attitude who possesses excellent event management, technology, and organizational skills, a philanthropic spirit, and an intense passion for social justice. As the leader of the Development team, this position is responsible for promoting strong collaboration and communication between team members and Emmaus program staff and Senior Leadership Team. This is an on-site, full-time salaried position that involves some nights and weekends. Schedule is flexible to accommodate hours worked outside of the normal work day. The Development Manager reports directly to the Vice President of Strategic Planning and Administration.

SALARY RANGE: $80,000 - $90,000 annually depending on education, skills and experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work in collaboration with the VP of Strategic Planning and Administration (VP of SP&A) and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to create a development plan to increase brand awareness and revenue in support of the strategic direction of Emmaus Inc.
  • Organize and lead all agency events while operating within a set budget, working with community partners, vendors, other Emmaus Inc. staff and volunteers to ensure success of events.
  • Oversee and assist in the development and utilization of marketing materials, social media posts and press releases in collaboration with the VP of SP&A and the CEO.
  • Lead the development team to execute projects, provide weekly supervision to development staff, and update the VP of SP&A with any concerns.
  • Manage the development of strategy and processes to cultivate, engage, solicit and steward prospects/donors to the Annual Fund and other giving opportunities.
  • Oversee the use of software systems and email marketing programs such as Classy and Constant Contact in order to fulfill the fundraising goals.
  • Facilitate the timely completion and submission of grant proposals to local foundations and corporations in collaboration with the VP of SP&A, CEO and Senior leadership team including: drafting proposal narratives; preparing budgets reflective of project scope; assembling required documents /attachments; and submitting final proposals after review by the VP of SP&A and the CEO.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BA in a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in development or fundraising roles, preferably within a nonprofit environment.
  • Demonstrated ability in strategic planning and events management.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated success meeting agency fundraising goals, through diverse funding streams including individual major gifts (of at least $5,000), event donations/sponsorships, and foundation/corporate.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of marketing techniques and tools, including email marketing and social media management. Experience with a donor database and events management software is a plus.
  • Ability to work well independently and in collaboration with other team members.
  • Ability to pivot as needed with changing circumstances and a good sense of humor.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • MUST have a valid driver’s license and consistent access to a car.
  • MUST be able to pass a motor vehicle records check to screen for driving record annually and undergo CORI check prior to hiring.
