The Southwest Women’s Law Center is looking for a Development Specialist to help us build our fundraising capacity from the ground up.

Established in 2005, the Southwest Women’s Law Center (SWLC) works on issues that impact women and girls around reproductive rights, economic security, and gender discrimination in New Mexico.

We are looking for a donor relations/fundraising professional who has a passion for our mission and vision and is excited to share it with the community.

As a small nonprofit, the SWLC relies heavily on grants to allow us to do our work and we are looking to expand our operations, so we are seeking someone to:

· Lead and spearhead our donor and fundraising outreach to individuals, corporate partners and funding agencies

· Draft , assess current fundraising plan and implement modifications to expand and enhance the donor experience by including timelines and specific objectives

· Increase our supporter base by conducting prospect research to identify potential contributors including key major givers

· Cultivate relationships with current supporters to grow their annual giving

· Manage major gift campaigns to build fundraising capacity including drafting direct mail/e-mails, manage tele-funding campaigns, and other appropriate materials

· Assist the Executive Director and staff in researching and writing grants

· Maintain accurate and consistent data among different databases including donor program and Mailchimp on timely basis

· Post social media ads for fundraising related purposes

· Coordinate the SWLC's Fundraising Subcommittee of the Board

· Use excellent verbal and written communication skills

· Complete other duties as assigned.

Required qualifications:

  • 2+ years of professional fundraising experience for non-profits including in-person “asks” from individuals, corporations, and foundations
  • 2+ years of professional grant/proposal writing experience for non-profits
  • 2+ years of recent professional experience creating social media marketing for fundraising purposes (we use Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Mailchimp, Hootsuite, Canva)
  • 1+ years of professional experience creating fundraising plans
  • 1+ years of recent experience with donor database system (we currently use Kindful)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to draft grant proposals and develop fundraising initiatives as the sole development professional, while soliciting input from staff.
  • Reliable transportation to attend donor/fundraising meetings within NM
  • In-depth knowledge of the NM community, and currently residing in NM
  • Ability to cultivate productive working relationships with diverse populations

Preferred qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with nonprofits that impact women, people of color, LGTBQ is a plus
  • Project management skills with fundraising campaigns that include training and managing staff, board members, and volunteers
  • Event planning experience
  • Spanish and/or Native language fluency

We are open to a part time, or contract basis for the right candidate if necessary.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Up to $62,000.00 per year
