Narrative Description: Jubilee House is a ministry of Grace Episcopal Church; the primary location for the work of this position will occur at Jubilee House. This is a grant-funded position; when grant funds cease to be available, employment will end or be reduced regardless of performance evaluation. This full-time salaried position is a management position. The responsibilities of this position include (but are not limited to):
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations of Jubilee House
- Assisting volunteers and staff with their duties
- Serving as a knowledgeable resource for volunteers and staff
- Performing administrative tasks relevant to Jubilee House operations
- Drafting policies and procedures
- Implementing enacted policies and procedures
- Processing and enforcing guest suspensions and discipline
- Maintaining a secure environment
- Recruiting new volunteers
- Supporting current volunteers
- Training staff and volunteers, acquiring supplies
- Facilitating monthly all staff/volunteer meetings
- Facilitating weekly staff meetings
- Attending weekly senior church staff meetings
- Providing a monthly report on the status and activities of the ministry to the Associate Rector for Outreach and/or the Vestry of Grace Episcopal Church
- Representing Jubilee House to the Basic Needs Coalition and other groups focused on care of the unhoused
- Directly assisting the guests of Jubilee House.
Other duties may include:
- Public speaking when invited to represent the ministry
- Coordinating social events to engage, encourage, and support volunteers/staff
- Assisting in fundraising efforts
- Assisting in grant writing
- Other duties as assigned by the Associate Rector for Outreach.
Supervisor: The Associate Rector for Outreach of Grace Episcopal Church
Subordinates: Outreach Specialists, volunteers
Typical Time Commitment: 40-45 hours per week.
- Monday through Friday 10am-5:30pm (the scheduled hours of Jubilee House operations) is required
- Time both before and after these hours may be regularly required to accomplish administrative tasks, attend meetings, and attend irregular events.
- Irregular and infrequent weekend work may be required from time to time.
- Monthly all staff/volunteer meetings last approximately 1 hour and are scheduled from 9am-10am one day per month and are required.
- Weekly staff meetings (with Outreach Specialists and the Associate Rector for Outreach) and weekly manager meetings (with senior church staff) are scheduled concurrently with Jubilee House hours whenever possible.
Term / Contract: This is neither temporary nor seasonal employment. This is not a contracted position. This position exists as long as grant funding is available.
Compensation and Benefits: Starting salary of $62,000 per year; exempt from overtime pay as a manager.
- Single-person health insurance (includes vision) and dental insurance provided; family coverage available (difference in premium covered by employee).
- Church Lay Pension contribution of 9% with 4% contribution by employee (prorated if employee selects to contribute less than 4%).
- All benefits subject to change in compliance with the benefit options from The Episcopal Church, the Episcopal Diocese of the Great Lakes, and the Vestry of Grace Episcopal Church.

- Two weeks of annual paid vacation time becomes available upon hire and must be taken within the first year of employment (no carryover or buyout).
- Beginning with the second year of employment, three weeks of paid vacation time becomes available each year (no carryover or buyout).
- Paid holidays are provided per the list of paid holidays approved by the Rector of Grace Episcopal church; Jubilee House operations may facilitate transferring holidays to a different observed day from time to time.
Requirements:
- English-language proficiency
- Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in human services or a related field (preferred); or a Bachelor’s degree in a non-related field that has provided the relevant and necessary skills; or a non-traditional educational experience, and commensurate life/work experience, providing relevant and necessary skills:
- Written and verbal communication commensurate with holding a Bachelor’s degree
- Critical thinking and problem-solving ability commensurate with holding a Bachelor’s degree
- Cultural sensitivity and awareness commensurate with typical general education requirements of a Bachelor’s degree
- Ability to read and process written material commensurate with holding a Bachelor’s degree
- Compassion for all people and especially those experiencing crises
- Relevant experience with people living with substance use disorder, experiencing homelessness, and experiencing a variety of mental health statuses
- Training in trauma-informed care (preferred); or a willingness to receive training in trauma-informed care
- Ability to provide clear, concise, and consistent direction and feedback to volunteers and staff
- Ability to orient and train staff and volunteers that includes evaluating third-party training programs and administering selected training programs to ensure compliance
- Ability to utilize personal and professional resources for self-care, healthy boundary setting, and the willingness to demonstrate these healthy behaviors to volunteers and staff
- General familiarity with computers and a willingness to learn, implement, and teach the use of new technologies to staff and volunteers
- Reliable, punctual, detail-oriented, and willing to take initiative within authorized parameters
- Ability to navigate stairs both up and down
- Ability to perform light (household) cleaning duties
- Access to reliable transportation

- Customer service experience
- Childcare or teaching experience
- Training in Social Work
- Training in mental health care
- De-escalation training
- Crisis management experience
- Security and/or law enforcement experience
- Experience working with those experiencing homelessness in Northern Michigan
