Job Title: Director of Modern Worship

Job Type: Full time

Reports To: Lead Pastor and collaborates regularly and closely with Modern Worship Lead Team

Schedule: Sunday mornings, some weekdays. Given the nature of ministry; schedule is flexible based on the church calendar and may include non-traditional hours including evenings.

Salary: Negotiable Depending on experience & benefits (PTO available)

Mentor United Methodist Church is looking for a dynamic and creative Director of Modern Worship to evolve our contemporary worship services. Key Responsibilities:

· Visionary Leadership: Inspire and mobilize individuals to engage in meaningful worship, focusing on Jesus Christ.

· Team Scheduling: Organize musicians, AV technicians, and other necessary team members for weekly services using scheduling tools.

· Music Oversight: Select and introduce appropriate modern worship music, ensuring a cohesive worship experience.

· Worship Planning: Lead the planning and execution of diverse worship experiences in collaboration with the Modern Worship Lead Team.

· Team Development: Recruit, mentor, and support volunteers staff within the worship and tech teams, fostering spiritual and organizational growth.

· Worship Facilitation: Oversee the modern worship services, ensuring a dynamic and engaging atmosphere for worship.

· Compliance: Manage copyright licenses and reporting for all worship materials.

Additional Needs:

· Lead Modern Worship Team meetings and participate in church meetings as required.

· Develop and manage the annual worship ministry budget.

· Coordinate logistics for worship services, including equipment and role assignments.

· Collaborate with pastoral and children/youth ministry teams to integrate diverse participation in worship.

Skills & Qualifications:

Required:

· 2-4 years in a music coordination/leadership role or 3-5 years of related experience.

· Passion for modern worship and a strong musical background.

· Proven ability to evaluate and coach musicians.

· Excellent organizational and planning skills, capable of both short-term and long-term planning.

· Team-oriented approach with strong leadership and interpersonal skills.

· Commitment to growing in faith and openness to United Methodist theology.

· Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

Helpful:

· Experience in encouraging congregational singing.

· Music skills, including singing or playing an instrument, songwriting, producing, and arranging.

· Willingness to seek external resources to enhance worship.

· Experience with modern worship bands.

· Music Education degree or background.

· Proficiency in current technology relevant to worship planning and execution.

· Background, knowledge, experience and/or appreciation for United Methodist theology, history and practice.
