Director of Nursing

The Normandy Care Center, a nursing home that is part of a CCRC in Rocky
River, Ohio is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing (DON). The
Director of Nursing assumes authority, responsibility, and accountability for the delivery of nursing services in the facility. In collaboration with facility Administration, allocates department resources in an efficient and economic manner to enable each resident to attain or maintain the highest practical physical, mental, and psychosocial well-being. Collaborates with other departments, medical professionals, consultants, and organizations, including government agencies and advocacy groups, to develop, support and coordinate resident care, related administrative functions, and to represent the interests of the facility.


Accountable for the development and implementation of nursing policies and procedures to meet current regulations.
Supervises the development and delivery of in-service education.
Keeps Deficiencies below the state average at a minimum.
Involved throughout the hiring process to ensure quality of staff
Readys facility for survey in conjunction with the Administrator.
Takes ownership of daily complaint reports and participates in these investigations
Stays actively involved in the admissions process
Oversees the QA process in the facility
Shows consistent and superior care for residents and their family members
Manage staffing patterns and equipment/supplies in accordance with established budgets
Maintain positive and productive relationships with affiliated medical professionals to ensure quality care is delivered to residents


Requires a current valid license as a Registered Nurse issued in Ohio
At least five (5) years of professional nursing experience in the long- term care setting

Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in nursing administration or a comparable nursing management position.
Must be able to demonstrate leadership and organizational skills, and provide positive attitude, direction, and discipline for the nursing staff.
Knowledge of long-term care management, policies, budgeting, personnel management, and census development is required.

Director of Nursing Expectations:

A positive team player that exhibits excellent communication skills with staff, residents and families
Someone with survey experience to lead the nursing department
Carry out resident care policies established by the facility
Participate in recruitment, hiring and scheduling of nursing staff
Schedule, direct and document regular meetings with nursing staff to assure effective communication
Assist surveyors and inspectors to facilitate regulatory compliance.
Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate and direct the nursing service department
Assist in the recruitment and interviewing of nursing personnel
Ensure licensed nurses and nurse aides have current certification and/or license
Monitor nursing care to ensure all residents are treated fairly and with kindness, dignity, and respect
Assist with discharge planning to assure the discharge of a resident is a proper discharge and the resident and family are provided for upon discharge
