Full job description

Family Promise of Escambia County prevents and ends homelessness for families with children and helps them achieve sustainable independence through a community-based response. We are seeking a passionate, committed Director of Programs and Outreach who will use their lived experience, vision, and skills to support families experiencing homelessness to achieve safe, stable housing.

Program Responsibilities:

  • Receive referrals from local community and church partners and promptly follow up with families.
  • Assist families to secure housing and work through any barriers needed.
  • Work with ED and Case Manager(s) to provide resources, referrals, financial literacy, budgeting, housing and education

career success planning.

  • Help plan, create and evaluate a program that will lead to the success of our families.

Outreach Responsibilities:

  • Serve a co-community ambassador to local churches, non-profits and local business.
  • Speaking in local churches, community engagement orgs and business gatherings.

Administrative Responsibilities:

  • Document all case management activities.
  • You may be part of organization on-call system for provide shelter coverage.
  • Keep case file records for every family, meeting program, funder and family needs.
  • Work with /supervise volunteer family mentors and interns as needed.

Additional Responsibilities: **

  • Job requires some flexibility and may involve a weekend/night to meet with families.
  • May assist at fundraisers and special events (currently, we have two a year).

Education, Experience and Skills

  • The successful candidate is passionate, empathetic and show a kind, mature discernment.
  • Can take initiative, and help families achieve clear goals and outcomes.
  • Must have a sense of urgency, creativity, and a figure-it-out attitude.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience with family support. Four-year degree in a related degree encouraged. .
  • Expected skills include trauma-informed care.
  • Must be detail oriented, a self starter, able to prioritize and self-manage.
  • Must be proficient in computer programs.

Salary and Benefits

  • Mileage reimbursement for work-related car travel.
  • This is a PT position with a salary to be determined based on experience and education.

Work Environment

  • The Case Manager reports to Executive Director
  • Occasional lifting of materials up to 25 pounds is necessary.
  • Family Promise is comprised of a small staff and a large pool of volunteers.
