Title: Director/Pastor of Ministry (Chief Ministry Officer)

About Agape House of Worship (AHOW): AHOW is a nondenominational, Spirit-filled church located in Roselle, New Jersey, with an average weekly attendance of 400 to 500 people and growing. Our purpose is to be the church where everyone is welcomed and inspired to be and to do their best for God to be glorified. We are currently seeking a highly motivated, ministry-minded individual to join our executive leadership team as the Executive Director/Pastor of Ministry.

Position Summary: The Director/Pastor of Ministry will provide oversight, administrative support, and accountability to leaders of assigned ministries of AHOW. The individual will work directly with the Lead Pastor (as a member of The Executive Leadership Team) to provide strategic, executive, and operational leadership to AHOW Ministry Leaders. He/She will oversee, set and measure goals, and develop and execute strategies for the betterment of AHOW ministries and the church at large. Also responsible for managing the AHOW assimilation process and strategy.

Reports to: Lead Pastor

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Serve as the primary interface between the Lead Pastor and over 25 lay ministry leaders.
  • In cooperation with the Lead Pastor and the pastoral team, help select ministry leaders to serve over various ministries and replace ministry leaders if the need should ever arise.
  • Provide oversight, coordination, and direction to over 25 ministry leaders and their associates.
  • Ensure that ministry leaders are operating in alignment with the church’s purpose and direction.
  • Provide ongoing training, monitoring, and support for ministry leaders, especially in volunteer recruiting, onboarding, training, team building, and team leadership.
  • Meet regularly with ministry leaders to provide monitoring, guidance, and accountability.
  • Approve purchase requisitions for ministry leaders as designated by the Lead Pastor.
  • Provide monthly reports to the lead pastor on the progress of all ministries and recommend changes and improvements as needed.
  • Manages the assimilation of members into the worker/volunteer pool by working with the Connection and Christian Education ministries, tracking the assimilation process, and providing ways to improve the process.
  • Will plan and preside over the bi-monthly of all church volunteers (called workers) to facilitate continuous improvement, communication, and feedback among the workers.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED BEHAVIOR

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree is required, with at least five years of experience in a pastoral or managerial role that involves managing people, setting benchmarks, and monitoring progress.
  • The individual must be a born-again believer who believes he or she is called to ministry and willing to use their leadership and organizational skills for God’s kingdom.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to provide excellent leadership; exercise sound judgment, discretion, and integrity. Must be able to multitask and work independently with minimum supervision.
  • The individual must exhibit the character qualities outlined in 1 Tim. 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, 1 Peter 5:1-4, Acts 6:4.
  • Must possess skills in working with others, along with strong verbal and written communication skills. Must be flexible and able to respond consistently to various situations.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to juggle multiple tasks, prioritize, follow through, delegate, and accept accountability for outcomes.
  • Excellent MS office skills, especially Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Comfortable with the use of learning various church-related software.
