Job Summary:
Canna Remedies Security Guards are professional, helpful individuals who are responsible for maintaining the security of the people and property at the dispensary. Security will commonly be among the first individuals a customer or visitor comes in contact with at CR. These individuals must be level headed with strong situational awareness and the ability to manage and de-escalate situations.
Security personnel shall assist the dispensary team to establish and maintain the highest level of security and compliance in accordance with the New Jersey Cannabis Regulatory Commission's regulations. They are responsible for properly responding to any illicit behavior and coordinating with the appropriate authorities as needed to ensure the safety and security of the establishment and its people. Security will also assist the dispensary team with any and all additional tasks as deemed appropriate and within a practical scope.
Responsibilities:
- Protect employees, customers, visitors, property, and proprietary information from harm or misappropriation
- Protect property from theft, embezzlement, sabotage, trespassing, fire, and accidents
- Monitor, operate, and inspect security monitors and camera systems.
- Maintain continued observation of the dispensary and intermittently conduct foot patrols of the dispensary and adjacent parking lot
- Control access to and throughout the dispensary
- Prevent unauthorized entry into the dispensary and restricted areas
- Issue and collect facility access badges to authorized employees
- Greet all visitors to the dispensary in a professional manner
- Check and confirm each customer's valid photo ID to ensure the consumer is of legal age to purchase cannabis.Verify vendors and visitor’s photographic identification with accurate completion of the visitor log to ensure compliance per the CRC
- Maintain visitor and security compliance logs
- Provide escort for employees and contractors as required or requested.
- Observe and report any unlawful activity
- Respond to and investigate alarms, unauthorized attempts, suspicious activity and any other potential critical security or customer business related issues.
- Respond to emergency situations and render aid as necessary
- Take the appropriate lawful actions on accidents, incidents, trespassing, suspicious activity, safety, and fire.
- Provide accurate and complete written and verbal reports on all incidents/investigations when applicable
- Provide guidance and assistance to dispensary personnel during investigations for incident reports, emergencies, parking lot incidents, thefts, and policy violations.
- Provide assistance during deliveries from vendors.
- Neutralize situations calmly with tact and common sense
- Aid customers, employees, visitors, or the public as necessary within scope of security duties or within reason
- Conduct safety inspections of fire extinguishers, emergency exits, lighting fixtures, etc. and document findings in the security compliance logs
- Assist in opening and closing procedures for the dispensary
- Secure the dispensary at the close of each business day
- Train new security hires, and inform other staff of security procedures and policies
- Represent the company in a manner that conveys professionalism, confidentiality, courtesy, fairness, personal integrity and respect for others
- Perform all tasks and duties in an efficient and safe manner
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized and safe working environment
- Participate in CR staff trainings and meetings, providing support when needed
- Maintain a basic knowledge of cannabis and cannabis use in NJ
- Maintain compliance with NJ CRC Adult Use Cannabis rules and regulations
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Military, law-enforcement, or security background strongly preferred.
- 3-5 years of experience in the security career field is required
- Must have a current & active SORA card. (All credentials must be presented at the interview.)
- CPR/First aid certification preferred or the ability to demonstrate previous training in first aid or life saving drills
- Experience in the cannabis industry is favorable
Qualifications:
- Candidates must be at least 21 years of age
- Ability to communicate clearly and calmly
- Must have own means of transportation
- Proficiency with computer systems such as email, Microsoft Suite, Google Docs, and surveillance software
- Ability to work independently and as a team with people of diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
- Availability to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
