Job Title: Dock Attendant

Supervisor: Maintenance & Marina Manager / Lead Dock Attendant

Job Summary:
The Marina at Swan Bay Resort offers 100+ Slips, Watercraft Rentals & and an onsite Boat Launch. Swan Bay is seeking Dock Attendants that provide top notch customer service while projecting a professional demeanor. As a result, we expect the Dock Attendants to be cheerful, engaging, knowledgeable and courteous towards customers. Additionally, safety is of the utmost importance, therefore; Dock Attendants are to perform their duties in a manner that assures safety for themselves, the customer & the Marina property. The Attendants may often work alone or with little supervision and must be trusted to get the job done in a professional manner. There is a lot of responsibility with this position and the day-to-day tasks can be numerous. This position is Seasonal (May-October) with Full-Time and Part-Time positions available. Pay is based upon experience. Dock Attendant hours range from 8am-8pm, 7 days a week, so flexibility in your schedule is a must.

Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Performing daily opening & closing job duties, daily dock walks, and grounds maintenance
  • Memorizing watercraft rental rates and marina policies
  • Becoming knowledgeable in our RMS Booking system for rental reservations and cashing customers out
  • Issuing receipts, refunds, credit or change due to customers precisely & accurately
  • Cleaning docks, pedestals, walkways, sidewalks, equipment, weeding, removing trash, stocking supplies and organizing all other areas of the facility
  • Maintaining a fuel logbook
  • Performing pump outs and maintaining equipment sanitation procedures as needed
  • Maintaining the exterior of our Boat Rental “On The Rocks”
  • Keeping the water feature and pool areas neat and organized; maintaining proper chlorine and pH levels
  • Ensuring that all rental boats are clean and filled with oil and fuel; checking for Coast Guard requirements
  • Assist with docking boats; knowing how to properly tie a boat up
  • Assist and support any special events that may take at the Marina’s Pavilion
  • Completing any additional tasks asked for by management and/or Lead Dock Attendant

Essential Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of boating is a plus, but all are encouraged to apply
  • Knowledge of the St. Lawrence River and surrounding areas is a plus
  • Specific physical demands are required, please see “Physical Demands” section
  • A drive to work in a fast-paced environment and the ability to quickly switch between tasks is required.
  • The ability to count register drawers and give/receive cash and card payments is required.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays

Education: High School or equivalent is preferred.

  • May have to lift, carry or push up to 80lbs

  • Must be able to work in wet and slippery conditions with caution
  • Must be able to work outside during the Summer months where shade is often provided
  • Additionally, must be able to withstand temperature extremes in outdoor environments and inclement weather (ex: covering boats in sudden downpour)
  • Is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop; kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell
