Position Title: Dock Hand – Full Time Seasonal, May through October
Reports To: Lewiston Operations Manager
Position Overview: The Dock Hand is responsible for assisting in maintaining the flow of operations on the dock, ensuring adherence to the operational schedule, and assisting with the distribution and maintenance of gear. Dock Hands also support Captains and Whitewater River Guides with vessel cleaning, maintenance tasks, and ensuring a safe and efficient dock environment.
You float my boat! The Dock Hand is the go-to guy for our Captains and Trip Leaders. They assist with gear, passenger loading and all things jet boat maintenance – getting to enjoy all the action from the comfort of our jet boat docks. If you’re a stickler for organization & cleanliness, and love meeting new people, then this is the perfect job for you. The ability to hype up a crowd before their tour is considered an asset.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in maintaining the flow of operations on the dock, ensuring guests are prepared and ready for departure in alignment with the operational schedule.
- Communicate effectively with Captains, River Guides, and other team members to coordinate timing and logistics.
- Distribute life jackets, helmets, and other river gear to guests, ensuring proper fit and safety.
- Collect and clean returned gear after use, following established sanitization protocols.
- Inspect gear regularly for wear and tear, reporting any issues to the Supervisor.
- Assist Captains and River Guides with cleaning and maintaining vessels to ensure they meet safety and cleanliness standards.
- Perform routine cleaning and upkeep of the dock area, including removing debris, organizing equipment, and maintaining a tidy workspace.
- Support basic maintenance tasks as needed, ensuring all dock equipment is in good working order.
- Provide friendly and helpful assistance to guests, answering questions and ensuring they feel prepared for their tour.
- Monitor guest safety on and around the dock, adhering to company safety policies and procedures.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor or Manager to support overall dock operations and guest experience.
Ideal Candidate would have or acquire:
- Excellent oral communication – confident when speaking in person and in front of large groups of guests
- Punctuality and respect of time constraints and demands when serving large numbers of people
- Experience working in/around water and/or boats are considered assets
- Fluency in other languages is considered an asset

The tour company’s fleet of custom-built jet boats depart from locations on the Canadian and American sides of the Niagara River, including Queenston, ON and Lewiston, NY.
