Full job description

Christian Brothers Cabinets is looking for an experienced Drafter/Engineer. The Drafter/Engineer works on small kitchen remodels to multi-million-dollar new builds. They must be able to execute the visions and needs of clients and contractors with exacting detail using computer-aided design software. This role plays a critical role in translating our clients' visions into precise cabinet designs and detailed plans for production.

Pay: Starting at $50K annually


  • Design Development: Collaborate with clients, architects, and interior designers to conceptualize and develop custom cabinet designs that align with their needs and preferences.
  • 3D Modeling: Create detailed 3D models and renderings of cabinet designs using industry-standard design Cabinet Vision software.
  • Work from rough sketches and specifications created by engineers and architects.
  • Update and redline cabinet drawings.
  • Produce project drawings using Cabinet Vision to present to the client.
  • Interpret drawings and update measurements to match schematics.
  • Blueprint Generation: Generate precise and detailed shop drawings and construction blueprints for cabinet production, including dimensions, materials, joinery, and hardware specifications.
  • Material Selection: Advise on and select appropriate materials for cabinet construction, considering factors such as durability, aesthetics, and budget constraints.
  • Project Coordination: Work closely with the production team to ensure that the design vision is accurately executed during the cabinet fabrication process.
  • Client Communication: Maintain open and clear communication with clients to present and refine design concepts, address questions or concerns, and obtain approvals.
  • Site Visits: Conduct site visits as needed to assess existing spaces, take measurements, and verify design feasibility.
  • Cost Estimation: Prepare cost estimates for cabinet materials and labor based on design specifications.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in cabinet design and share insights with the team to enhance design capabilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of our products - Custom Cabinet Line, new Econo Line and Closets.
  • Communicate with coworkers in the shop and interior designers involved with the project to ensure accuracy and quality meet our high standards.

  • Proven experience in custom cabinet design and drafting.
  • 5 years of cabinet design experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, SolidWorks, Cabinet Vision).
  • Strong attention to detail and precision in creating technical drawings.
  • Knowledge of woodworking materials, joinery techniques, and construction methods.
  • Strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • An understanding of client needs and the ability to translate their ideas into functional designs.
  • Ability to manage multiple design projects simultaneously.
  • A degree in architecture, interior design, or a related field (preferred).
  • Kitchen and remodel experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of current cabinet and interior design trends.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and must pass a background check.
