Early Childhood Educator

Temple Emanuel Early Childhood Center (TEECC), located in Kensington, Maryland is seeking talented and passionate early childhood educators to join our innovative and collaborative team.

About Temple Emanuel Early Childhood Center:

The foundation of our full-day, year-round early childhood program is built upon creating and maintaining a culture of collaborative learning informed by the Reggio Emilia Approach to Education and the values of our progressive Reform Jewish context. Our aesthetically rich environment and beautiful outdoor grounds are a year-round “home” to 70-100 children ages 18 months to 5 years old.

TEECC educators co-teach in an environment that honors our culture of dialogue and research based on the image of the child as curious, competent, and capable of co-constructing knowledge. Our staff view themselves as life-long learners who constantly challenge themselves to grow professionally and find joy in being part of a dynamic, collaborative community.

Temple Emanuel ECC Educators:

• Create and maintain aesthetically beautiful learning environments that are rich with opportunities for children to engage in research and exploration.
• Think creatively & engage in the many forms of expression used in the classroom.
• Develop meaningful relationships with our community of children, families, and staff.
• Have unique interests and are passionate about sharing their knowledge and experience.
• Exhibit proficiency in the use of digital media as a tool for provoking children’s learning and classroom documentation.
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Value and participate in the life of our school and greater Temple Emanuel community.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma [or equivalent]
• 90-hour Certificate in Early Childhood Curriculum and Development OR 4-year College Degree in Education or a related field, strongly preferred.
• Experience working with young children, preferably in a classroom setting.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and desire to grow as an educator.
• A collaborative spirit.
• Physical ability to ensure the safety and care of children (ages 2 and up), including, but not limited to, lifting (up to 40 lbs), carrying, and chasing children.

Compensation:

• Pay starting at $22 per hour, commensurate with education and experience.
