Positive Bright Start has an opening for a Long Term Substitute Teacher!

Salary for Leads: $13-$15 per hour (depending on experience), Plus Benefits (including paid health and dental insurance premiums for full time employees after 60 days and paid time off after 30 days)

Schedule: Full-time, shifts are 7:30 am-3:30 pm or 9:30 am-5:30 pm

PURPOSE: Positive Bright Start is looking for a qualified, lead early childhood teacher for our established Positive Behavior Support (PBS) Model Meadowlark classroom at our Edgewood location. To provide leave and support to staff going on maternity leave this summer and fall.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:

* Lead Teacher Qualification and Experience as a Lead in a Licensed Childcare Facility

* Knowledge of Child Development Theory and Practice

* Knowledge of Food Program and Feeding Children

* Knowledge of Applicable Safety Procedures

* Ability to Provide a Supportive, Nurturing, Caring, and Safe Environment for All Children

* Ability to Exercise Control and Maintain Positive Classroom Expectations

* Ability to Self-Motivate

* Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with families, children, co-teachers, and administration

Physical Requirements:

* Lifting and Carrying Children

* Stooping/Bending

* Basic Cleaning Tasks

Other Requirements of Teaching Staff:

* CPR/First Aid Certification

* Satisfactory KBI Criminal Background Check

* Professional Development (paid)

* COVID-19 Vaccination

Positive Bright Start Preschools operate under the belief that all children have special needs and special strengths, and in the appropriate environment, all children can learn from their peers as well as their teachers. Unlike other daycare programs, our schools have a no expulsion policy and our teaching staff are trained in the Positive Behavior Support model. Positive Behavior Support (PBS) is a problem-solving approach to behavioral challenges that uses assessment data to make decisions, preventative strategies to reduce incidence of challenging behavior, and instructional strategies to teach the child replacement skills for problem behavior.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour

COVID-19 considerations:
Masks are optional on PBS premises if fully vaccinated. Regular sanitation practices are in place. We ask that staff be fully vaccinated in order to protect the young, vulnerable population that we work with.


  • High school or equivalent (Required)


  • Licensed Early Childhood Education: 1 year (Preferred)


  • CPR/First Aid Certification (Preferred)
