Position: Beach Church Early Learning Center - Assistant Teacher beginning August 2025

Classification: Hourly, full-time 40 hours weekly

Reports to: Early Learning Center Director

Purpose

The ELC assistant teacher positions are responsible for providing high quality programming and specialized learning experiences to students in the early learning center programs serving children between 18 months and five years of age. The assistant teacher should provide services in a supportive and positive classroom climate that develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge and support the lead teacher throughout the day.

Education & Experience

· Department of Children and Families (DCF) 45 Hours training Minimum and meet literacy requirements, within one year of employment

· Child Development Associate (CDA), Florida Child Care Professional Certification (FCCPC) or other in field degree preferred

· 1-2 years early childhood teaching experience preferred

· Ideal candidates have experience as a teacher aide, preschool teacher, toddler teacher, daycare teacher, and/or early childhood education experience.

· Implement developmentally appropriate activities for children using Creative Curriculum as a guide with lead teacher in a Christ-centered classroom environment.

· Create a positive home-classroom connection by maintaining appropriate ongoing communication with parents of children.

· Communicate regularly with parents to nurture a supportive and cooperative relationship between home and school.

· Keep accurate records on children as required by program.

· Maintain classroom discipline using behavioral management techniques: positive reinforcement, praise, encouragement and redirection.

· Organize classroom and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment: both indoors and outdoors.

· Provide constant supervision of all children during all activities

· Assist with development of instructional classroom materials.

· Plan personal professional growth and knowledge of current developments within the field.

· Attend required meetings and in-service trainings.

· Protect confidentiality of records and information for students.

· Report to administration when knowledgeable or suspicious that a child’s health or welfare has been or appears to be at risk as a result of abuse or neglect.

· Perform all other duties deemed necessary for the smooth operation of the program and the agency, as directed by the Director of Early Learning Center.

Physical Demands

This is a physically active role that would require the ability to lift at least 35 pounds; participate on the floor with children and move swiftly without limitation.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

We are hiring an assistant teachers for the 2025-2026 school year. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, shifts are between the hours. The program operates from 7:30 am – 5:15 pm. Some flexibility in hours is required based on program needs.
