**IMPORTANT: Foundational baking experience is required for this position. Commercial baking experience is preferred, but at minimum applicants need to have a history of regular at-home baking experience and be very comfortable and familiar with baking basics. ***This is specifically an early morning baker position, with start-times at 4:30am, non negotiable.***
Our small, close-knit team at The Coffee Pot Bakery Cafe is looking for a hard-working, team-minded Early Morning Bakery Assistant to join our crew! Our culture at the Coffee Pot is built around a collaborative team of people who have helpful attitudes, are welcoming and friendly to co-workers and customers, and willing to do what it takes to support each other and help our little bakery/cafe provide delicious food and an excellent experience.
HOURS: This position would be approximately 20-28 hours per week, with a variance of +/- one shift as business levels fluctuate throughout the year; shift lengths are 5-7 hours. This position would be specifically for our early morning shift (start time is 4:30am), and would include many Saturdays.
PAY: Base rate for this position ranges from $13.50-$15.50 per hour DOE, plus shared tips, which average to $7.50/hr over a year long comparison period.
TASKS & REQUIREMENTS: Include but are not limited to:
- Reliably carrying out the daily early morning baking of fresh pastries and goods, including preparing special orders.
- Preparing foods for use in recipes (ex. Roasting and processing garlic, toasting coconut, washing/dicing celery, weighing out fruit for pies, browning sausage etc.)
- Carrying out and/or assisting baking team with foundational bakery recipes such as burrito filling, pie base, sourdough bread, etc.
- Performing recipe assembly or completion, such as wrapping burritos, cutting dessert bars, making sauces, assembling lasagna/enchiladas/pies, etc.
- Handling and preparing both raw and cooked foods in large quantities for use in recipes.
- Working alongside fellow team members in a collaborative, kind, & respectful manner.
- Ability to manage time well, including punctuality, efficiently executing tasks, and being careful to look for additional tasks to help with when known duties are finished.
- Ability to follow systems, recipes, and directions consistently.
- Ongoing teachability and flexibility.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
- Must be able to lift and move 50lbs multiple times per day. (i.e. moving bags of flour, carrying Hobart mixing bowl full of dough, lifting a full pot of soup, etc.)
- Requires repetitive movements.
- Must be able to walk, push, pull, lift, carry, twist, balance, stoop/bend, kneel, squat, reach above shoulders, reach below shoulders, rotate head and neck.
- Must be able to handle, control, and feel objects, tools, controls, and utensils.
