KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Youth Development
- Maintain an environment that facilitates the achievement of youth development outcomes
- Maintain an inclusive and equitable environment
- Utilize an asset-based approach that focuses on the strengths that diverse students bring to the classroom
- Provide positive reinforcement and corrective feedback to members
- Use appropriate behavior management techniques to redirect members
- Consult with caregivers concerning member performance and behavior
Programming
- Organize and lead daily education/STEM curriculum for all members in grades 1-12
- Develop and facilitate enriching and culturally responsive programming with goals and outcomes that align with the organization’s priorities
- Employ instructional strategies that address diverse learning styles and strengths.
- Transition to summer camp coordinator role seasonally
- Create and/or run weekly ‘clubs’ within the Club Ex. Girls Group, Torch Club, Robotics
- Lead and engage youth in My Future.net programs and other grant funded initiatives
- General program coverage as needed
- Create and share culturally competent programming and/or resources
Safety
- Supervise youth participants in all areas of the Club at all times, ensuring their health and safety
- Assist in maintaining all areas in use of the program clean and orderly; ensuring both their physical and emotional health and safety
- Ensure curriculum and activities are safe and developmentally appropriate for all levels of participants
Leadership
- Support and provide feedback to staff
- Participate and contribute in all staff meetings, trainings and committees
- Complete EEC staff trainings based on requirements
- Represent the organization to the community, corporate partners, grant funders, etc.
- Oversee education/STEM programming and room usage
- Recruit and oversee program volunteers or partner organizations
- Assist in supervising program assistants or teen staff in program area
Organization
- Responsible for grant compliance and reporting
- Create and follow calendar of due dates for grants
- Track spending of grant funding
- Attend and track training as needed for grants or career development
- Take pictures, videos and record anecdotal stories
- Connect with Boys & Girls Club of America as needed
Skills/ Knowledge/Requirements:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 1 year experience:
- Working with a diverse group of youth from all grade levels in a school, camp or childcare setting
- Facilitating STEM programming to youth
- Teaching/tutoring
- Utilizing technology in programming
- Ability to maintain a high level of energy and enthusiasm
- Intermediate to proficient computer skills
- Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred
- Obtain and maintain First Aid and CPR certification.
- Offer contingent upon successful CORI, SORI and DCF background record check; as well as the Fingerprint Criminal History Record Information check.
