LOCATION:

This position is based out of Woodgrain’s Lumber Division located in La Grande, Oregon.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Electrical Manager plans and leads the daily activities of the Electrical Department in the areas of Safety, Quality and Maintenance. This individual oversees the installation, repair and upkeep of Electrical, Controls and PLC Equipment within the plant. Will work with computers, distributed control systems, programmable logic controllers, electronic control devices, and miscellaneous peripherals that support mill production. This requires both a focus on leadership as well as the full utilization of information, procedures and methods to positively impact the materials, machines, internal and external customers of the facility.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage Electrical/Controls/PLC Projects
  • Program and manage process controls
  • Develop and implement equipment installations and projects
  • Research and assist with problem solving process issues
  • Maintain documentation and communicate all changes with the process controls
  • Provide leadership and direction to electrical employees
  • Estimates electrical /Controls and repair costs
  • Assists in ordering materials
  • Contributes to and supports continuous improvement initiatives
  • Assists in developing and maintaining CMMS system and maintenance schedules
  • Trains and monitors electrical workforce and ensures compliance with establishes procedures and safe work practices
  • Training (PLC & Programming)
  • Ensure employee safety
  • Ensure environmental compliance
  • Reduce electrical downtime
  • Help to manage critical spare parts inventory
  • Work with maintenance staff to develop a Reliability Based Program to proactively address equipment issues Instill a TEAM concept in the workplace
  • Continually communicate in a positive manner
  • Conduct oneself in a manner that is reflective of the Company policies

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / CERTIFICATION

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical or Electrical Engineering preferred or
  • 5 years of maintenance leadership experience; preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Wood products industry experience preferred
  • Experience in preventive and predictive maintenance methods

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Solid understanding/ability of troubleshooting electronic components and control systems
  • Must have the ability to write PLC programs and have a working knowledge of PC programs
  • Knowledge of NFPA70E requirements
  • Demonstrated project management, planning, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of an organization
  • Ability to relate and positively interact with team members
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to identify root cause of problems and effectively initiate immediate corrective action
  • Demonstrated skills in planning, implementing, monitoring and reporting
  • Detail oriented and work accuracy focus
  • Knowledge of CMMS Systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strong mechanical and electrical knowledge of manufacturing process

The physical demands and work environment are representative of a typical sawmill environment. The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level is moderate to high depending on the area of the mill. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk and hear. Requires close vision, distance vision, and depth perception. Lifting and physical activity is required for this position, must be able to move boards and wood pieces. The employee must occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $54,515.00 - $136,294.00 per year
