Full job description
Job Summary
Assemble, troubleshoot and repair electronics and related parts for electronic and fiber assemblies.
Job Responsibilities - Principle
- Follow Automated Machinery and Electrical Safety Practices and Standards
- Wiring Electronic Assemblies
- Alteration and Modification of pre-fabricated electrical enclosures
- Soldering including but not limited to:
- Through-hole and surface mount components
- Wire and cable assemblies
- RF cable assembly (BNC, SMA, etc.)
- Fiber assemblies including:
- Fusion splicing
- Cleaving
- Lapping
- Terminations
- Ethernet & Serial cabling assembly
- Electronic testing
- Occasional mechanical assembly
Job Responsibilities – Other
- Stay abreast of automation industry trends relative to electronics handling and
assembly
- Occasional control panel wiring and assembly
- Occasional machine wiring
- Occasional assistance to assembly technicians
Direction Received
- This position will take direction from the Controls Department Manager
Supervision of Others
- This position does not have any direct reports.
Qualifications – Education
- Technical school – 1 years minimum with 2 years’ work experience preferred
Minimum Qualification – Basic Knowledge / Experience:
- IPC-A-610 (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies) endorsement
- Electrical test equipment
- Ability to read and understand electrical wiring schematics
- Basic electrical noise principles and best practices
Preferred Qualifications
- NFPA and NEC electrical standards
- AutoCAD Electrical
- Basic level of proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Other Requirements
- Strong mechanical background
- Employee must have his/her own tools to perform work duties
- Able to work with minimal supervision

Work Environment
- Omnitech’s production floor and machine shop with occasional visits to customer’s facilities.
Physical Demands
- Lifting items typically less than 50 pounds
- Standing, kneeling, and working on machines and equipment for prolonged periods of time
Travel Requirements
- Local travel – Occasional weekday trips to customers within driving distance of Omnitech are required.
- Out of town travel – Occasional out of town trips with overnight stays are infrequent but required. Most trips occur during the Monday – Friday work week.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
