Job Title: Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Programs Manager

Basic Job Purpose: The EMS Programs Manager is responsible for managing EMS activities through the Michigan Center for Rural Health (MCRH). The program manager will serve as an EMS expert aiding rural EMS agencies and stakeholders. The program manager will support and offer technical assistance for EMS operational, educational, and quality improvement-related activities in the State of Michigan. The program manager will develop programming that will strengthen and support rural Emergency Medical Services throughout the State of Michigan.

Supervision Received: Reports directly to the Director of Programs & Services.

Typical Physical Demands: Will require prolonged periods of sitting; ability to hear normal range of voice; ability to prepare reports and use computer and telephone equipment.

Typical Working Conditions: Hybrid working environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Management of EMS continuing education activities - including designing, implementing, and consistently thinking of growth opportunities.
  • Management of EMS leadership academy activities.
  • Collection and dissemination of rural EMS resources.
  • Development and implementation of EMS workgroups centered around operational efficiency and quality improvement.
  • Serve as an EMS expert and consultant to rural EMS agencies, providing technical assistance.
  • Actively participate in local, state, and national EMS work groups and committees.
  • Expand EMS leadership activities and resources for rural EMS professionals.
  • Serve as an advocate for rural EMS support and sustainability.
  • Participate in EMS grant writing activities for the MCRH.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to advance support provided to rural EMS agencies.
  • Assist with and offer technical assistance for state EMS recruitment and retention activities.
  • Management and coordination of EMS-related courses and events.
  • Management of EMS communication and data platforms.
  • Develop and support programs related to EMS safety, self-care, and wellness.
  • Explore innovative approaches to EMS programming.

Performance Requirements: Proficient experience with EMS. Knowledge of rural communities. Ability to excel in an environment that allows for operating with autonomy while meeting high expectations. Ability to excel in a team environment and work with a diverse group of people. Ability to multi-task and to work independently and with groups. Ability to compile data, use Microsoft Office products, and write reports. Ability to foster relationships and bring people together. Skill in both verbal and written communication; skill in organizing and prioritizing activities; skill in developing relationships.

Education: Bachelor’s degree plus healthcare experience; training and/or certification in emergency medical services strongly preferred. Instructor Coordinator (IC) certification is strongly preferred.

Pay: $58,000.00 - $71,000.00 per year
