VCA Green is seeking an Energy Modeler capable of coordinating and delivering Energy Code compliant models. Responsibilities include: organizing, coordinating, and assisting others in the department. Excellent communication and inter-personal skills are essential in this position. This position requires the ability to learn modeling software and apply principles to documents for project managers to review. We anticipate the successful candidate will either be a CEA or be able to earn a CEA within 6 months of employment.

The ideal candidate will be a California Certified Energy Analyst (CEA) We anticipate the successful candidate will grow and be willing to obtain a CEA, and/or be able to obtain it within 12 months of employment.

During the first 12 months:

· Learn about VCA-Green, its history, services, employees, projects and clients.

· Learn what systems and software programs are used within the Green department. Specifically, learn how to input data, file, organize, and maintain internal files and processes.

· Ability to produce residential and non-residential energy models with little supervision.

· Ability to read and transfer plan information from architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing plans.

· Become familiar with Heat Transfer principles, such as conduction, convection and radiation transfer.

· Obtain knowledge of California Energy Code and/or ASHRAE 90.1.

· Capacity or willingness to learn about HVAC systems, such as heat pumps, and cooling towers.

· Ability to provide information on energy efficiency measures based on modeling outputs to a project manager.

· Ability to communicate technical details to project team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

· A degree is in Engineering, Architecture, Environmental Science, or related discipline.

· 5+ years of experience performing energy modeling for the built environment.

· CABEC CEA certification preferred

· Advanced knowledge of EnergyPro

· Experience with other energy modeling and load calculation software applications (CBECCs, Energy Plus, E-Quest, Wrightsoft, Trane Trace)

· Solid communication and writing skills

· Ability to closely track projects and tasks to ensure on-time delivery of high-quality deliverables and client expectations;

· Proficient computer abilities, particularly Microsoft Office Suite.
