Summary
The Wyze Engineering Product Manager (EPM) plays a important role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, stable, and high-performing products, particularly focusing on software features and system reliability.
Responsibilities:
Driving Software Features for Quality and Performance
- The EPM is responsible for leading the development of software features aimed at improving system stability and product performance, ensuring that new features meet quality standards and enhance user experience
Software Design and Lifecycle Management
- They oversee basic software design, contributing to the overall architecture and feature development.
- Manage the entire software release lifecycle, including planning, gating, quality evaluation, and deployment, to ensure smooth updates and minimal disruptions
Documentation and Requirements
- Write detailed Product Requirements Documents (PRD) and Technical Requirements Documents (TRD) to clearly define feature specifications and technical expectations
Security and System Reliability
- Drive critical end-to-end security improvements projects, working closely with the security team to implement outcomes that bolster product safety.
- Responsible for handling system outages by collaborating with customer support and engineering teams
Quality and Performance Metrics
- Build and maintain data metrics related to product quality and system performance, utilizing SQL and Python for data analysis.
- Although they work with BI and cloud teams, they independently develop these metrics to monitor system health proactively
Release Gating and Quality Evaluation
- Oversee software release gating processes, ensuring that releases meet predefined quality standards before deployment
User Feedback and Issue Resolution
- Collect user feedback from various channels, including customer service and community teams, and drive resolution for critical issues impacting user experience
Outages and System Stability
- Responsible for managing and coordinating responses to outages in collaboration with engineering teams, ensuring minimal impact on users and system stability
Additional Technical Responsibilities
- Use data analysis tools such as SQL and Python, with Tableau as optional, to analyze system and product metrics.
- Work with the BI/Cloud teams as needed but primarily focus on building and interpreting metrics independently
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems (IT/MIS), Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math, or a related field.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- This role will be working with teams in both US and China, must be bilingual in English and Chinese Mandarin.
- Proven experience in product engineering, preferably in consumer electronics or related industries.
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and certifications for consumer electronic products.
