POSITION OVERVIEW

Metric Environmental, LLC (Metric) seeks a summer intern to support our Cultural Resources division. The candidate will work as an Environmental Scientist Intern and gain experience in field completing archaeological reconnaissance surveys, as well as assisting other divisions with historic resources surveys and archival research, sampling water resources, ecological surveys, wetland delineations, wetland mitigation planning, waterway permitting, and/or preparing NEPA documentation. Prior knowledge of and experience with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) Section 106 regulations pertaining to historic preservation is a plus.

DUTIES MAY INCLUDE:

  • Assist with archaeological field surveys
  • Prepare archaeological reports for transportation agencies
  • Field recordation of historic properties
  • Assisting in preparation of various environmental reports, permits and regulatory documentation
  • Performing site visits and collecting field data, such as measurements, instrument readings, photographs, etc., for environmental investigations
  • Performing regulatory and technical research as needed to support a project

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 2 years working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Anthropology, Environmental Sciences, Geology, Biology, Botany, or related field or combination of relevant experience and education may be substituted
  • 0-3 years of practical experience in environmental consulting
  • Able to create tables using Microsoft Excel and prepare technical reports using Microsoft Word
  • Experience in ArcGIS a plus
  • Valid driver’s license
