Equipment Operator II - Road

Greenwood County is looking for a team player to join the road crew. In this position you will operate and perform routine preventative maintenance on various types of heavy equipment such as bulldozers, front-end loaders, motor graders, equipment crane, pans, compactors, etc.

Duties include but not limited to:

• spreading, compacting and covering waste; digging trenches; grading and stock piling soil.
• Assists with various other department duties as needed, including operating weigh station; maintaining wastewater pump station and leachate pond, maintaining groundwater, monitoring wells, etc.
• Works under close to general supervision according to set procedures, this determines how or when to complete tasks.

Full Time- Equipment Operator II Position for the Road Department

Pay range: $39,267.61 to $58,901.41

$2,250 yearly CDL Retention Stipend (pro-rated)

Workdays are Monday through Thursday, 10-hour shifts; Weekends and overtime are as needed

Required Education and Experience:

• High School graduate or GED equivalent.
• One year of heavy equipment operation experience or related field OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Physically able to operate a variety of types of machines and heavy equipment including motor grader, tractor, backhoe, trucks, bushhogs, and various general maintenance equipment
• Successful completion of heavy equipment skill set assessment provided by Greenwood County Public Works.
• Valid Class A SC Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
