Office Position with Required Travel

We are looking for Estimator who:

Responsibilities:

  • Perform all responsibilities under the supervision of the Director of Construction Services.
  • Create an advantage for A.L. Adams when estimating projects.
  • Review design documents for completeness.
  • Lead pre-bid representation.
  • Review & analyze constructability & design quality issues.
  • Develop construction schedule with the operations team along with developing accessibility, environmental, and logistics plans.
  • List potential problem areas and develop a list of qualifications and allowances addressing each one.
  • Determine local permitting requirements and impact on cost and schedule.
  • Review estimate & close “gaps.”
  • Prepare scopes of work and review before bid day.
  • Develop value engineering. Ensure VE items do not compromise owner’s requirements.
  • Lead hand-off to operations.
  • Attend pre-construction meeting.
  • Ensure contract scope is correct.
  • Prepare and vet subcontractors bidders list utilizing research and A.L. Adams protocols.
  • Manage the documents control through the preconstruction phase.
  • Provide Value Engineering opportunities for A.L. Adams and Owner as follows
  • Cost saving opportunities.
  • Maintenance cost of equipment & facility.
  • Design Efficiency
  • Construction timeframe analysis of alternate materials.
  • Provide a benefit/cost analysis for each value engineering item.
  • Understand how the project estimate, scope of work and design were developed and review with the operations team

Qualifications and Attributes

  • 3-10 years’ experience as a construction field superintendent on commercial projects.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite
  • Consistently motivate workers and peers in a positive way to achieve the best outcome.
  • Ability to work in a high-level professional environment.
  • Effective in getting ideas accepted and in guiding a group or an individual to accomplish a task.
  • Ability to reach sound, logical conclusions based on the information at hand.
  • Effective in arranging own activities and those of a group to provide effective courses of action. Work effectively with other organizations.
  • Actively influence events, act independently or without specific instruction within the scope of accountabilities. Understands limits.
  • Ready to make decisions or to render judgments. Ability to use problem solving process.
