Organization:
The Brownsville Wellness Coalition (BWC) is a dedicated nonprofit organization focused on eradicating hunger, educating the public about nutritious food choices, and creating a sustainable food system for all through various initiatives, partnerships, and community engagements.
The Executive Director (ED) role at BWC is a key leadership position responsible for driving the organization's mission of promoting healthy food choices and ensuring food security for vulnerable populations on the border by the sea in Brownsville, Texas.
Position Overview:
The Executive Director will be based in Brownsville, Texas, and will play a crucial role in providing visionary leadership, strategic direction, and operational oversight to advance BWC's mission and objectives. The ED will serve as the primary spokesperson, foster collaborative partnerships, and lead fundraising efforts to ensure the organization's sustainability and growth.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement strategic plans aligned with the organization's mission and vision.
- Identify emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities in the field of healthy food and food security.
2. Program Development & Management:
- Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs and initiatives, including the Brownsville Farmer’s Market.
- Ensure programs are impactful, evidence-based, and address the needs of target communities.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership:
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including donors, government agencies, community organizations, and other partners.
- Represent the organization at conferences, events, and public forums to raise awareness and advocate for healthy food and food security.
4. Fundraising & Resource Development:
- Lead fundraising efforts, including grant writing, donor cultivation, and special events.
- Diversify revenue streams and ensure financial sustainability.
- Manage and acquire federal and private grants to support the organization's initiatives.
5. Team Leadership & Development:
- Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities for staff.
- Foster a collaborative and inclusive organizational culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
6. Financial Management:
- Oversee the organization's budget, financial operations, and ensure compliance with regulations.
- Monitor financial performance and make data-driven decisions for resource optimization.
7. Communication & Advocacy:
- Develop and implement communication strategies to enhance the organization's visibility and impact.
- Advocate for policies promoting healthy food access and addressing food insecurity at local, regional, and national levels.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Health, Nutrition, Nonprofit Management, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of senior leadership experience in a nonprofit organization, preferably in the fields of food security, public health, or community development.
- Proven track record in strategic planning, program management, and fundraising.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and advocacy skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to equity, social justice, and community empowerment.

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00 per year
