JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
ORGANIZATION OVERVIEW
REquipment’s mission is to improve the independence of individuals with disabilities through access to free, gently used, durable home medical equipment and assistive technology. Donated devices are refurbished and provided free to older adults and individuals with disabilities,
including veterans and children. REquipment devices are for use at home, school, work, and in the community. Our values are those of the Independent Living Movement. We are guided by the principles of consumer choice, consumer control, and the right to fail. We believe the individual knows their needs and how best to address them. First piloted in Greater Boston, REquipment has reassigned more than 10,000 durable and home medical equipment items statewide since 2014. As of 2022, more than $14 million worth of devices—from power wheelchairs to shower benches — have gone to Massachusetts residents, representing significant savings to Medicaid and other insurance programs.
OPPORTUNITY
REquipment is seeking an experienced disability leader in Massachusetts who embraces and embodies REquipment’s mission and values. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the REquipment Durable Medical Equipment (DME) and Assistive Technology (AT) Reuse Program, staff, programs, expansion, and execution of its mission.
The ideal candidate will have and/or develop deep knowledge of the reuse field, core programs, operations, and business plans. The candidate must have experience overseeing the day-to-day administration and operational functions of a non-profit or advocacy organization and deep roots in the disability community.
The candidate will work under the direction of REquipment’s Board of Directors and provide leadership for REquipment’s fiscal/program managing REquipment’s staff of 12-15 full time and part time employees with a budget of $900,000. This is an exciting opportunity for a leader with a disability to partner closely with the Board of Directors to continue the implementation of REquipment’s work while charting REquipment’s future growth and strategic responses to a dynamic and ever-growing need for durable medical equipment and assistive technology to live, work and play in the community.
This is a remote position, but the ED must live in Massachusetts.
