The Center for Adaptive Riding (CAR) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization in Reno, NV. CAR's mission is to empower people of all abilities through equine-assisted services.

Position Description:

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Executive Director to lead our organization toward achieving its mission and expanding our impact within the community. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for serving individuals with diverse abilities, and the ability to drive strategic initiatives for sustainable growth.


1. Leadership & Strategy: Provide strategic direction and visionary leadership to ensure the organization’s mission is effectively carried out. Develop and implement long-term strategic plans in collaboration with the Board of Directors.

2. Fundraising & Development: Lead fundraising efforts, cultivate donor relationships, and seek grant opportunities to ensure financial sustainability. Develop and execute innovative fundraising campaigns and events.

3. Program Oversight: Oversee the development, implementation, and evaluation of equine-assisted services. Collaborate with instructors and staff to maintain high-quality, safe, and effective programs.

4. Community Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with participants, families, volunteers, and community partners. Represent the organization at events, conferences, and within the broader community.

5. Financial Management: Ensure responsible fiscal management, budget development, and financial reporting. Monitor and manage resources efficiently to achieve organizational goals.

6. Advocacy & Awareness: Advocate for the needs of individuals with diverse abilities and promote awareness of the organization’s mission. Engage with stakeholders to create a positive impact on a broader scale.


  • Proven experience in nonprofit leadership.
  • Strong strategic thinking and organizational development skills.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and donor relations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for serving individuals with diverse abilities and a commitment to inclusion.
  • Financial management expertise.

Pay: DOE
