Full job description

Do you love small towns, historic buildings, local businesses, and creating places where people want to gather?

Main Street Corydon is seeking an energetic, visionary, and community-minded Executive Director to lead our downtown revitalization efforts. This is a unique opportunity for someone who’s excited to roll up their sleeves, build meaningful partnerships, and wear many hats—all in service of a vibrant and thriving Corydon.

About Main Street Corydon:We are a nonprofit organization committed to strengthening downtown Corydon through preservation-based economic vitality. As part of the Indiana Main Street and Main Street America networks, we follow the proven Four-Point Approach®: Economic Vitality, Design, Promotion, and Organization.

Downtown Corydon is the heart of our community—historic, walkable, and full of potential. With the support of dedicated volunteers, business owners, and civic leaders, we’re working to make it even better. From hosting farmers markets and downtown events to advocating for small business growth, we are passionate about place—and people.

About the Role:This is not your typical 9-to-5 job. You might be meeting with city officials in the morning, helping a business owner brainstorm a window display after lunch, and stringing christmas lights in the evening in preparation for our next event. The Executive Director is the face, heart, and hands of our organization—leading strategy, managing day-to-day operations, and bringing our community’s big ideas to life. This is a full time position with flexible hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead marketing and branding efforts—including social media, print, and website

Partnerships & Community Engagement

  • Represent Main Street Corydon at meetings, conferences, and public events
  • Collaborate with other local nonprofits, tourism agencies, and the arts community

Fundraising & Grant Writing

  • Identify and pursue funding opportunities, including sponsorships and grants
  • Maintain relationships with donors and community partners
  • Write grant applications and manage reporting for awarded funds

Who You Are:

  • A strong communicator, relationship-builder, and natural networker
  • Organized and detail-oriented, but also creative and flexible
  • Comfortable working independently—and occasionally setting up tents, carrying boxes, or solving problems on the fly
  • Excited about community-building, small business, and local history
  • Passionate about making things happen and seeing your work make a real difference

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, marketing, public administration, urban planning, or related field
  • Previous experience in a leadership role (nonprofit, community development, or similar)
  • Grant writing, event planning, and/or fundraising experience
