Full job description
Executive Pastor
The ideal candidate is a mature, committed Christian who is also committed to discerning and being led by the Holy Spirit. This person must have experience with leading organizations as well as creating systems and processes that help those organizations achieve their goals. We are looking for a strategy-minded ministry leader who is gifted in their ability to lead staff and volunteers in the execution of ministry strategies. This person is expected to align ministry efforts to the vision of the lead pastor and to the overall discipleship pathway of the church – Love God, Love One Another, Serve the World.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Help to strategize all church ministry efforts as a member of the church’s staff team.
- Help to set long-term objectives and strategies for the church in alignment with the Lead Pastor.
- Create systems and processes that further the church’s ministry objectives.
- Create and oversee a robust small group system to facilitate movement through our church’s discipleship process.
- Lead and manage the everyday activities of the church.
- Align the ministries and departments around the church’s mission, vision, and values.
- Facilitate an annual process to evaluate the ministry effectiveness of church ministries.
- Facilitate a monthly gathering with ministry leaders to communicate vision and expectations as well as to equip, align, and encourage.
- Lead the church’s budgeting and financial planning processes.
- Supervise staff in a way that maximizes ministry effectiveness.
- Play an integral role in all personnel decisions within the church staff.
- Maintain an awareness of current trends and best practices within ministries of comparable size.
- Preach regularly as part of a preaching team.
- Participate in pastoral duties (officiating weddings and funerals, counseling, etc.) as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- A mature and active personal relationship with Christ.
- A lifestyle congruent with the biblical requirements for elders/leaders.
- A calling to pastoral ministry.
- A master’s degree in ministry leadership, business, or a related field.
- Experience managing large teams in either the church or business world.
- Excellent verbal communicator: Comfortable speaking before large groups of people.
- Able to lead others with humility, speak the truth in love, and deal wisely with conflict.
- Agreement with the church’s statement of beliefs.
- Willingness to use technology to help the church further its ministry goals.
- Ability to love and engage people of all generations in the ministry of the church.
