Overview of the Event Design and Development Manager Role

Location: Remote (US-based required, West Coast preferred)
Time Commitment: Full-time
Work Hours: Monday-Friday, with availability between 9 AM - 5 PM PST
Compensation: $75,000 - $80,000 annually
Status: W2 employee position (must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.)

You’re a Good Fit for This Role If:

  • You have direct experience in corporate or agency event planning.
  • You have a keen eye for spatial design and storytelling through environments.
  • You bring fresh, original ideas and can translate abstract concepts into tangible experiences.
  • You thrive in fast-paced environments and can juggle multiple projects with ease.
  • You work well independently but love collaborating with a team to refine and execute ideas.
  • You’re resourceful, proactive, and unafraid to push creative boundaries.
  • You can communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • You understand the technical aspects of experiential design, from fabrication to lighting and layout.

This Isn’t the Role for You If:

  • Your experience is primarily focused on hospitality event planning.
  • You struggle to conceptualize unique event experiences and need constant direction.
  • You lack experience creating designs in Canva.
  • You prioritize aesthetics over functionality and attendee experience.
  • You’re uncomfortable managing multiple projects and tight deadlines.
  • You prefer to work in a structured, predictable environment with little variation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conceptual Design: Develop innovative event experiences that align with client goals and brand identity.
  • 3D & Visual Renderings: Create sketches, mood boards, and digital renderings using software such as Canva.
  • Collaboration & Execution: Work closely with internal teams, vendors, and production partners to bring designs to life.
  • Spatial Planning: Develop layouts and environmental designs that optimize flow and engagement.
  • Material & Fabrication Coordination: Select materials, props, and set pieces that enhance the event experience.
  • Client Presentations: Clearly communicate ideas and present design concepts in an engaging and strategic manner.

Key Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in experiential and event design for corporate clients.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing immersive brand activations, event installations, or set designs.
  • Proficiency in Canva
  • Understanding of production techniques, materials, and fabrication methods.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think on your feet.
  • Excellent time management and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
