Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Manager to be responsible for the preservation, maintenance, operations and repair of the entire physical properties, surrounding grounds, vehicles and equipment associated with the role. The position's primary location will be The Harbor Light Center and will also service The Family Caring Center as a secondary location.

Essential Functions:

  • Working along the Executive Director of each center, assure that all inspections and any issues related to facilities overall upkeep, compliance records are maintained, reported with all follow up action plans completed within the required time.
  • Inventory and maintain chemicals, cleaning supplies, food, paper products, and other necessary supplies.
  • Provide general supervision and oversight of maintenance and housekeeping team members: volunteers and community service persons
  • Responsible for hands-on participation for interior and exterior maintenance, painting, repairs, and cleaning of entire site including buildings, equipment, furnishings, etc
  • Contact contractors and vendors as directed to obtain bids, services and other information pertaining to repairs
  • Maintain proper and regular inspection of and maintenance of stairs, sidewalks, paths, roads and other paved areas, retaining walls, etc
  • Develop and maintain a current and active list of at least 2 contractors/vendors for all essential next level maintenance needs
  • Monitor site and building operations including arranging for, and supervision of, emergency repairs as necessary until permanent repairs can be made
  • Monitor furnishes and equipment
  • Correct conditions which post a health or safety threat to building occupants, such as loose carpeting, inadequate ventilation, pest control, extermination, etc
  • Respond to fire alarm, chemical spill and other hazardous situations as needed
  • Supervise and participate in the overall cleaning of all areas of building and grounds such as basic floor care, lawn care, emptying trash, dusting
  • Provide general maintenance such as bulb replacement, fixture repair, painting, general routine repair
  • Maintains consistent communication and coordination with the Divisional Headquarters' Property Department
  • Be available to assist at other Salvation Army locations

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must possess exceptional organizational, written, oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, online portals, email, internet searches and file storage systems
  • Must maintain strict confidentiality regarding internal communications and proprietary information
  • Must have the ability to establish appropriate project goals and the steps necessary for completion
  • Must be self-motivated, independent and be able to complete tasks with limited supervision
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously


  • Monday - Friday, Day Shift
  • Occasionally, depending on need, weekend coverage may be requested
  • This position requires that the individual be able to work from The Harbor Light Center and Family Caring Center, while also being available for unique tasks at other Salvation Army locations

Additional Requirements

  • All required PA Clearances must be reviewed and approved by HR prior to employment and renewed as necessary: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA Criminal Background Check, FBI Fingerprint Criminal History Check
  • The Salvation Army's KeepSAfe Training is also required within 30 days of employment
  • Valid PA Driver's License
  • Must understand, appreciate and support the mission of The Salvation Army

Education and Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of related experience
  • Formal education in building and construction trades desirable, but not required
