THE COMPANY

Arctic Harvest Deliveries is a small, Anchorage-based, farm-to-table distribution company. We specialize in Alaskan grown, raised, harvest and made food products, including produce, meat, eggs, milk and seafood. We distribute to restaurants, lodges, and several independent grocery stores, as well as direct-to-consumer through our subscription Farm Share program.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an energetic, detail-oriented team player to assist with packing Farm Share boxes, pulling and packing wholesale orders and maintaining product quality. This position is heavily focused on produce handling and quality control. It requires standing/walking for the majority of the day, lifting boxes and moving products, as well as ensuring orders are being packed correctly and that all products are up to quality standards.

This position may also include delivering orders around Anchorage using the company cargo van as needed. A clean driving record and professional attitude are a must.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with produce, such as in the food service or agricultural industries, and can work a fast-paced day with a smile on their face!

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

- Be a team player who communicates clearly with teammates and management to ensure tasks get done proficiently and correctly.

- Foster positive relationships with Arctic Harvest customers - friendliness is central to our brand!

- Prepare produce for orders, including trimming, weighing, bagging/bunching, and culling when necessary.

- Maintain superior product quality by learning how to look for defects with the large array of fresh, frozen and packaged products we work with.

- Pull products from our cooler and help set up the pack line in the appropriate order.

- Pack Farm Share boxes in an efficient and timely manner.

- Follow food safety guidelines for cleaning and sanitation.

- Safely lift and load products into delivery vehicles.

- Use routing software to complete deliveries within the given timeframe

- Follow all warehouse protocols for box packing, shipping, receiving, stocking and cleaning. We are a small, dedicated team where everyone pitches in!

REQUIREMENTS

- Ability to lift 50 pounds or more, repeatedly throughout the day (while using correct posture!)

- Stamina to keep a consistent, brisk pace while packing orders on busy days.

- Ability to be adaptable and keep a level head when plans change.

- Ability to communicate clearly with management and be comfortable receiving friendly feedback.

- Knowledge of produce/local food/agriculture and ability to identify basic produce varieties preferred (additional OTJ training provided).

- Clean driving record - a driving record and background check will be required before employment begins.

- Familiarity with Anchorage roads is a plus.

- Comfortable driving for several hours at a time around all areas of Anchorage, occasionally in inclement weather or with traffic.

SCHEDULE

This is a seasonal summer position, starting June 9 and ending early October. Schedule is Tuesdays – Fridays, approximately 30 - 36 hours per week.
