Fashion Design Studio Manager
We are looking for an experienced Fashion Design Studio Manager to join the Hanifa team who must be able to be on-site in Rockville, Maryland. As Design Studio Manager at Hanifa, you will be highly-skilled in all areas of the fashion design process. You will lead the creation of designs that meet brand standards and meet the needs of our clients and customers. You will own the review process of emerging fashion trends, sewing protocols and design artisanship for styles that will have lasting appeal to customers. As a manager, you will lead the personal and professional development of the Design team and report directly to the Chief Creative Officer to help manage and execute high-visibility designs and creative projects for Hanifa’s clients and customers. You should also be an exceptional communicator and confident in managing multiple tasks on tight deadlines. You will be an experienced professional prepared to start in this position from day one. A strong working knowledge of the overall design and production process is critical. Relocation package will be discussed with the right candidate. Responsibilities

  • Manage the production process from start to finish. This includes selecting fabrics and materials, creating mockups for approval, and overseeing production schedules
  • Create and implement deadlines, project goals, expectations and workflows, to ensure a smooth production process with on-time delivery
  • Work with the Brand & Marketing team to plan seasonal campaigns that will help sell products in stores
  • Coordinate with other members of the team including marketing, advertising, and public relations staff to ensure that all aspects of the brand are represented in the final product
  • Collaborate with other designers in the company to create new collections based on seasonal themes
  • Prepare sketches and models to present design concepts to clients
  • Direct the selection of models and which fashions are most appropriate for each season
  • Efficiently manage Studio time and the Design team, in accordance with the budget
  • Clearly communicate the client and project needs to the Design team to ensure that the work meets the agreed plan
  • Assess, interrogate and clarify client briefs and assign the appropriate designers to a project
  • Proof and review designs, checking documents before they are shared with the account team /client
  • Assist on creative production when needed and meet with team members for feedback
  • Manage the Design team which may comprise of a range of designers, creative directors, digital skills and freelancers; assist in recruitment, selection decisions and set daily priorities and support for the Design team

Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of fashion design experience
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent degree in fashion design preferred
  • Previous working experience in the fashion sector required
  • Proficient in design and digital development processes
  • Connected in the design industry to source freelancers/contractors and new suppliers
  • Flexible in managing multiple projects, requiring multiple skills, deadlines and budgets
  • Relationship builders that balance the client, the work and the team
  • Must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Superior project management skills including exceptional attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Excellent written, verbal, client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Strong working knowledge of Google programs, Milanote, Monday.com, Slack
