SEEKING AN INDIVIDUAL LOCATED IN THE PHOENIX, AZ AREA OR ON THE WEST COAST.
SCOPE OF WORK:
The Field Service Engineer is responsible for and are vital to serving Aspen’s customer and dealer network. This position is also responsible for troubleshooting issues or concerns on part of the customer or dealer. Field Service Engineers answer compatibility questions and technical interaction questions from current customers, current dealers, as well as potential customers. This position helps to plan installations and ensures dealers are proceeding with high quality installations to ensure customer satisfaction.
JOB DUTIES:
- Assist customers, dealers, and potential customers with technical troubleshooting.
- Coordinate submitted requests for information or repairs/exchanges of Aspen hardware. Reviews and approves submissions or seeks out more information from the customer or dealer.
- Analyze trends of unit issues or failures and discuss newly recognized trends with the Director of Field Service and QA.
- Review technical documents that are generated by Aspen Avionics.
- Review technical documents that are generated by other avionics manufacturers.
- Travel to industry trade shows and air shows to perform technical training with a dealer-centric audience.
- Travel to air shows to perform sales/technical support duties with a customer-centric audience.
- Consult with technical support of other avionics manufactures to determine where a customer or dealer issue exists.
- Draft technical documents, service bulletins, and tech notes for use by the Aspen Avionics Dealer network as needed.
- Perform other tasks, as assigned by Manager.
PREREQUISITE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND EDUCATION:
- High School Diploma or GED, required.
- Associate degree, vocational or technical school degree – Avionics/Aviation,
- required.
- 5-years related experience in the field.
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate, required.
- Must have advanced avionics system troubleshooting skills applicable to a
- broad range of aircraft systems and aircraft operations.
- Must have advanced understanding of aircraft data bus communications, ARINC 429, RS-422/232, and other industry standard data bus architectures.
- Must have a basic understanding of aircraft power systems.
- Must have a basic understanding of aircraft autopilots that are compatible with Aspen systems.
- Requires self-management of incoming tasks.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with end users, installers, and customers.
- Ability to interact with all levels of an organization in a professional, diplomatic, and tactful manner.
- Effective oral and written communication.
- Proficient with Microsoft Suite of products including Outlook, Word and Excel.
- Must be able work effectively as a team, when needed, and reach out to team members to consult on answers for customers and dealers as needed.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Standing and sitting for extended periods of time.
- Lifting up to 40 pounds in a safe and prudent manner.
- Ability to easily move through an approximately 45,000 square foot warehouse building.
- Ability to push, pull, twist, reach, climb, grasp, stand, and sit.
- Ability to read, write, and understand English.
- Ability to use computer equipment, office equipment.
- Ability to have manual dexterity of both hands.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Correctable vision and hearing.
- Must have a valid driver’s license for business-related travel.
- Ability to travel domestically.
