Field Services Technician - Bonfire Fiber in Ignacio, CO

The Field Services Technician programs, installs, and maintains all Transport services. The position maintains and installs DC power plant in CO's and Remote cabinets including rectifier systems and battery plant. The Field Services Technician maintains Optical Networks and provisions and knows all aspects of delivering AE and XGS-PON to the home and commercial clients, both single locations and MDU applications.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Installs, programs, tests, turns up, and services Nokia Access Nodes, Optical Network Terminals (ONT),
  • Performs fiber optic splicing, testing and trouble shooting.
  • Ability to install drops to the home and/or manage contractors, as needed.
  • Installs and maintains special systems, to include Customer Premise equipment (CPE) gear, such as residential gateways (RG) on behalf of Internet Service Providers (ISP)
  • Needs knowledge operating various types of test gear, including but not limited to T1 testers, Optical Return Loss (ORL) meters, Time Domain Reflectometer (TDR's), and Optical Time Domain Relectometer (OTDR) and various ethernet and circuit verification testers.
  • Repairs aerial and underground cable, both commercial and residential. Or ability to manage contractor for repair of said cables.
  • Installs and maintains DC power plant and distributions systems in CO and Remote cabinets to include rectifier systems and batteries.
  • Responsible for all business and residential services related to provisioning and repair.
  • Performs locate services and reporting to clear locate tickets as needed.

  • Systems & Software – proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software applications.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Seven (7) years of experience installing, programming, and servicing telecommunications equipment is required.
  • Must have extensive experience with fiber optic cable splicing, both aerial and underground; and jack and wire installation.
  • Must understand data systems and distribution networks.
  • Must have proven knowledge of various communication technologies and data test equipment.
  • Technical training and certification on Access and Transport Gear. IE Juniper, Nokia, DZS.
  • Experience with Nokia and other access delivery systems is preferred.
  • Demonstrated strong customer service and interpersonal skills; to work effectively with customers, Bonfire managers, supervisors, and engineers; and to effectively plan and organize work.

Additional Details:

At a minimum, a personal background check, education verification, employment verification, motor vehicle background check, and drug screen will be conducted upon hire. Your suitability for employment is contingent upon successfully passing these required pre-employment screenings.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
